We are given a general idea about the history of the meat and produce mass production, by the two authors interviewed throughout the film. Corn growers, who are contracted with Tyson, are also interviewed for the shockumentary. The main purpose of these corn growers are to grow an excessive about of corn to keep it under market price so they feed the animals without breaking the bank so to speak. The film also explains to the viewers that naturally these animals would not consume corn in their everyday diet, however they are feed this product because it is cheap and hormones can be easily added to it allowing for the animal to grow at a faster rate and there for faster production. Sadly because corn is not in the normal diet for these animals it can and it is harmful not only to the environment but also on human health.
We rarely think completely about where the food we eat comes from and how is it produced. Kiara Edwards 8/1/2010 Human Nutrition Test Essay 2 Does anyone really know what we are eating? After viewing the documentary Food Inc I have a totally different outlook on the food that many of us consume every day. My daughter, Kiryana my niece, Samya and nephew Xavier watched the video with me they had so many questions ranging from what are they doing to the chickens, why are they hurting the baby chicks, to comments such as auntie I don’t think I want to eat chicken anymore. The Food Inc documentary introduced many people to America’s industrialized food system and its effect on our environment, health, economy and workers' rights. These images of smiling farmers, fields of wheat, hens and their chicks, with cows peacefully grazing in fields actually hides the reality of how a handful of multi-national corporations now control the majority of North American food production. This documentary talked about several issues such as Factory Farming and how approximately 10 billion animals
Food Inc. Review After you see the unsanitary habitats cattle are in, the horrible way Tyson treats the chickens, and the way our farmers are cutting corners and are basically being forced to work. You seriously may not pick up a fork for days after watching! I advise you to stop eating and stuff your face BEFORE watching the stunning, HEART- WRENCHING, stomach-turning documentary by Robert Kenner called Food Inc. You will be amazed at how blind and helpless we are as a people when it comes to the food we eat every day… well every 20 minutes if you are like me. The documentary starts us off in the aisles of grocery stores, but very quickly shifts to the slaughterhouses and seeds that make a large portion of our foods. This is when the film very strongly establishes its side and position in this argument.
Sabrina Madrid Professor Vazquez English 101 23 February 2012 What’s Underneath The Veil Prior to viewing the documentary Food, Inc. I had no previous knowledge of the food that I was consuming may be bad for me. Not just bad for me health wise, but bad for the economy and bad for the society in general. After watching the documentary I had a reality check as to what is being done in the food industry as a whole and what us as consumers can do about it. I strongly believe Food, Inc. has a clear message behind it and everyone in America should see the documentary.
As a reader that is heart wrenching because I think of beagles as cute little animals and then the thought of them burning in an oven is just horrific but that is Hamilton’s intent. For one she is warning you of what you are about to read but as well as describing how her experience has made it easier as a chef to kill these animals for food. I believe that experience helped her pursue a career as a chef. Hamilton also considers her audience as any reader to give not only a value of what she went through but also the life and death of a chicken. “Killing Dinner” caught my attention by the articles first sentence: “It’s quite something to go barehanded up through a chicken’s ass and dislodge its warm guts,” because it is so blunt therefore I knew the article would be interesting.
