Tanisha Chism COMP/170 May 8, 2012 Dr. Jackie Mangieri So it is time to address the most frequently asked question in the NBA: Who is better LeBron James or Kobe Bryant? Both are amazing athletes with similar ways of playing the game of basketball, but have different ways of accomplishing their goals on the basketball court. LeBron James and Kobe Bryant at some point have been considered the best players in the world. James and Bryant are extremely great basketball players who have some challenges yet also excelled in different ways.
When people hear his name they remember when he played basketball and the role he had in county history. “Pearl Avenue” is another case of symbolism used by Updike (1). An avenue is typically grand; however, the poem describes “Pearl Avenue” as being “cut off” shortly after it starts (1,2) “Pearl Avenue” also leads to where Flick is working now (1). “Pearl Avenue” is a representation of Flick’s life and career. Both started with great expectations only to be met with a firm stop and cut short of any possible success.
He is a professional American basketball player who plays shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant enjoyed a successful high school basketball career at Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania, where he was recognized as the top high school basketball player in the country. He decided to declare his eligibility for the NBA Draft upon graduation, and was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the thirteenth overall pick in the 1996, and was then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. As a rookie, Bryant earned himself a reputation as a high-flyer and a fan favorite by winning the 1997 slam dunk contest. Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal led the Lakers to three consecutive NBA championships from 2000-2002, and their loss in the 2004 NBA finals led to O'Neal's departure from the team, in the following the 2003-2004 season.

He taught us that this game is more than just something to do you has to love it. When I step on a basketball court it feels like nothing matters. LeBron James is known as the best basketball player in the world, although some would argue Michael Jordan was the best, MJ no longer plays and their style of play is a lot different making the two almost incomparable. LeBron is also one of the most criticized players in the history of sports because of the way he left the Cleveland Cavilers. He promised the people of Cleveland that he was not leaving until he brought an NBA championship to the city. Instead of doing so, he left for the Miami Heat where he has now won two straight NBA championships.
Such an honor is rarely seen and this topic has recently been brought to attention by LeBron James, who is a standout player for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA. James also wears number 23. By retiring Jordan’s number, the professional basketball community will be acknowledging the career achievements of Michael, both on the basketball court and outside the NBA. His influence on the game has been so great, that today’s most talented and famous players have honed their skills after Jordan’s. Also, his achievements on the court helped him pave the way professional athletes’ market their overall careers off the court and develop additional income opportunities.
