G.O.A.T: Greatest Of All Time What does it mean to be the “G.O.A.T?” Although it is not a real, physical award, being the G.O.A.T. means to defy gravity, to be able to control yourself while moving smoothly in the air, to split through double-teams, to carve through defenders like a surgeon, and to change the game forever. To be able to be recognized as the “Greatest Of All Time” is more than just a title, being the greatest means that you have changed the way people view and play the game of basketball. The Black Mamba (Kobe Bryant) and Air Jordan (Michael Jordan) have done so. This comparison is one that will be made for years to come because of a multitude of reasons.
Jordan was the team, meaning that he was always way above everyone else on his team in points. LeBron James is the best player in the NBA currently. LeBron has a few statistics going in his favor like assists and rebounds. So unlike Jordan, he has more of an ability to keep play going and be less of a “ball hog”. He also has the three-point percentage lead (32.9%) which is important because three pointers are a lot bigger part of the game now than they were when MJ played.
In the 1984 Olympics Jordan won the gold medal. He won rookie of the year and averaged 28.2 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game and 5.9 assists per game, which is really good for a rookie player. In his second year in the NBA the Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan versed the Boston Celtics in the first round of the Eastern Playoffs. Where Jordan scored 63 points against the Boston Celtics. Which is a remarkable achievement for any player in the NBA.
