I was the only child, so it was fairly quiet around the house. I would come home and sit on the couch and do my homework as my mom occasionally came around to see how I was doing. Whenever I slacked off, she made sure that I got back on the right track and got each part of my work done for school in the morning. Sometimes I would wait until the last minute to do projects for classes. I mainly pushed them off because elementary teachers always wanted some kind of colorful and creative diorama or drawing.

Therefore, during middle school and High school I was able to use what I learned in my previous years to write paragraphs, essays and research papers. As an administrative assistant it is important that I know and use every writing strategy that there is. Every week my company holds an executive meeting and it is my duty to take meeting minutes. Writing meeting minutes is a headache but is an essential duty and it is essential that the minutes are written effectively. I’ve had an experience in which the minutes I took weren’t written effectively, therefore everyone ended up going in different directions & then had to meet again for the same original purpose.
All of this is easily learned and understood, but when you begin to learn when to use comas, colons, and semi-colons, that is when the work becomes difficult. The boring subjects are the last issues that I have with the essays we are assigned in English classes. The subjects are almost always on some novel or a person we have read about in history. If the subjects were on something I liked, I might like English a bit more. Yet and still, I find myself writing my essays on less exciting subjects such as, “Why I hate English.” Second on my list are the thick novels I always find myself not reading.
I try to study in between my classes during my two hour breaks on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so I don’t fall behind in my schoolwork. Lastly for this section, I plan on changing up my study habits. In grade school all the way up until senior year of high school, I made it a habit to study and do homework in front of my television. Now, that will not happen. I am only going to study and do homework while sitting in silence or while listening to instrumental music.
I know my writing process should begin with clearing my head and then finding a quiet room to express my thoughts, on paper or in a computer. This is how my process should begin however, it never really does. To clear my head while I am at home, I might go for a run through the mountains with my dog or chop some firewood in the back yard. If it’s too cold outside I could wash some dishes, clean the house or lift some weights before I sit down and start trying to put my thoughts together. When I’m feeling lazy, activities like the ones mentioned above can becomes another obstacle to overcome while I am trying to complete my writing assignment.
Not too many years ago, it was not uncommon to see children turning in hand written assignments, but in today’s society it seems having computer access both at school and at home is a necessity. Teachers are no longer accepting a handwritten paper as a final draft. In today’s education, most students do not even turn in a hard copy of their final papers. He found his passion through his addiction to filmmaking, but it came at a price of making poor grades in school. In other situations students are multi-tasking with technology because of their addiction. While doing homework or writing an essay the students are being distracted by listening to music, texting, and watching television. In my personal experience with this I also get very distracted and sidetracked and cannot keep focused on what I’m supposed to be doing. I end up forgetting I have homework and not coming back to it later that night or the next morning to finish it.
Unrestricted use of TV sets and computer games, game consoles and online networking games, along with Internet chat rooms, mobile phones and other kinds of technological devices can make children addicted to technology and socially alienated. The growth of informational technology gives them a lot of opportunities, but also makes them lazy and less responsible. Children spend much more time on computers than they spend on studying their books for school or socializing with friends. There were times when one could take strolls and see children playing all kinds of games, running and laughing. Nowadays, it is likely that children are home sitting in front of a TV or computer, watching or playing games.
