Quality Teaching Analysis The Quality Teaching Framework structure is an important aspect when designing a lesson. There are three key components in the framework used to enhance the quality of a lesson. The components include; intellectual quality, a quality learning environment and significance (Training, 2003). The components have 6 individual elements that make up the component; this allows teachers to spread the elements over a program instead of compacting them into each lesson (Hinde-McLeod & Reynolds, 2006). This framework is demonstrated through viewing the clip on a year four class doing a lesson on ‘using quotation marks’. Firstly Intellectual Quality is the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of the lesson, which highlights what the student is learning and how they are learning the content. The lesson shown has demonstrated a connection to all the elements, in particular the teacher has integrated metalanguage remarkably. She was able to do this through producing an environment where the students were able to continually implement grammar metalanguage in class. The teacher was able to implement this by reinforcing grammars metalanguage that she required the students to learn. Problematic knowledge, however was not evidently demonstrated in the lesson. The teacher could develop this element by allowing the students to use a favourite book or other reading material. Then get the students change the text into direct speech, this will get the students to think about the process. The Quality Learning Environment focuses on the classroom, and how students and teachers are able to work productivity with an environment clearly focused on learning. In the lesson shown the quality learning environment has clearly demonstrated all of the elements that create the environment. The element that the teacher clearly highlighted was Social Support, in the lesson the teacher
