The organisation could also be fined by not complying with the law which would have a negative effect with exposure in the media. Organisations would have a reduction in patient and public confidence and so their reputation would be affected and patients would choose to have their care else where. Members of staff would also have a decrease in confidence with the organisation and their stress levels will increase. On the individual: This could cause further complications to their primary condition increasing their recovery time and possibly giving them a lengthy stay in a hospital setting. Patients may be forced to stay off work which will lead to a loss of earnings putting more stress on the individual and their families, possibly leaving a patient needing treatment for depression.
They may find it difficult to carry out physical tasks due to sensory loss. A person is unique and may have had different life experiences which means the way dementia affects them is personal to them. They have different likes/ dislikes and needs so we must try to meet these the best we can. 1.3 A person with dementia may feel excluded from society because the way they are treated by other's. Whenever an individual becomes distressed they may experience the sense of "self" being compromised, as in low self esteem, effective communication may suffer as an individual feels withdrawn or stressed. This lack of confidence may appear as: passive or even aggressive depending on level of irritability. Distress can also make a person feel insecure about how they are coming across when they try to communicate. Because their self esteem drops at this point, they are likely to mess up their communication or choose not to communicate at
Individual’s self-esteem can be low, and their body language may be closed or negative, this can make communication difficult with an individual whom is distressed because you may not get any feed back from them, or you may not get a change to talk or be listened to to help them. The individual may even talk a different language or revert back to their mother tongue, which can cause a communication barrier. Also if the individual has a learning disability they may not understand how/why they are feeling, or may not know how to express it. 1.4 Explain how working with an individual who is distressed may impact on own well-being. These factors can affect a person’s ability to be a part of their own community or play active roles in society as they feel isolated and often lack of understanding from others in regard to their sensory loss. People with sensory loss often feel frustrated when trying to express themselves and can often be misunderstood in a variety of situations. Society’s attitudes towards people with sensory loss is that people often think just because they have a sensory loss that they have limited capacity in other areas and over compensate for this without asking the person of their abilities and taking the time to recognise their strengths. Individuals not having their own opinions valued and taken into account can affect their overall health and wellbeing. However this can appear to conflict with the medical model, as the medical model can somewhat be discriminating against people with disabilities. On viewing how the medical model could impact our practice, it could prove to be a very stressful setting. This is because individuals wouldn’t have the same opportunities or support in life. This person is unique and autonomous, and should be treated as such. The second concept, Health, should be looking at an individual's mental, physical, and social well-being. I believe health is determined by environmental factors, genetic factors, lifestyle factors, and external factors, such as bacteria and pathogens. All these factors determine at what point they are at on the health spectrum. A person’s health could be changed by the environment or how comfortable that patient is in their current surroundings, therefore for a patient’s health to improve they need a stable and productive environment, and must be happy as a patient.

A short term effect of this treatment could be that she loses confidence, which could then mean she becomes isolated. A long term effect of this treatment/discrimination is that Femi could end up self harming, this could be due to the isolation caused and the way she has been made to feel, if her feelings grow stronger and she self harms more she could stop her counselling and physiotherapy and even though things in her home country are bad she may want to leave and end up going back which would put her in more
