Not only was she not dedicated to the class, but she From my own personal experience, it can sometimes take a lot to learn online. It takes more dedication, because you have to remind yourself to read, when your assignments are due, and be motivated in learning the material thoroughly, alone. You have to know when to you truly need help, and be comfortable communicating that to your teacher or peers. Rossett however, appears to not have possessed any of these
Aside from the class content I learned that I don’t wait for things to happen I went into this telling my group that under no circumstance could I lead this project but I found myself incapable of waiting for things to evolve on their own, I have more of a leader personality than I thought. How did the interpersonal dynamics affect your participation? If there were conflicts, how were they resolved? I am not shy and I was able to communicated with team members well, we had fun most of the time. Unfortunately we did not have a good dynamic with at least 1 team member which cause a quite a bit of delay and frustration, but we were able to side step this for the most part and push on with the objectives.
My schedule doesn’t allow for a lot of give, so everything I do is with purpose and on time. I forget that not everyone has the same regimen and need to be so time conscience. I am also not good at adapting to change, which is a critical skill I need to work on. In being with the same company for so long, we have seen our fair share of change, and I do eventually come around, but I think I could do it faster and better if I were more flexible and adaptive when I first become aware of changes on the way. Sometimes we learn of change the day of, via email, and it definitely throws me for a loop.
I know a lot of words; I just don’t use them in my everyday conversation, thus making it more difficult to incorporate in my essay. The other parts I was dissatisfied with were my introduction and conclusion. After the revision of my paper I noticed they needed tremendous work. Therefore, I completely changed the introduction and conclusion completely to better fit my essay. Sincerely, Kimberly
Prezi vs. PowerPoint Both Prezi vs. PowerPoint articles by David Wicks and Phil Bird talk about this new age presentation tool called prezi that brings a presentation to life and really gets the audience involved and interested in the topic of discussion. However, they don’t really go into depth about what PowerPoint really does if you take the time to learn all the functions of the presentation software, and I believe they do this either because they, themselves, really don’t know how to completely use PowerPoint, or to try to show how PowerPoint pales in comparison to this new age presentation software called prezi. According to Wicks, prezi is a web-based presentation tool that uses a map layout and zooming to show contextual relationships which addresses some of the shortcomings of PowerPoint. Wicks shows that prezi differs from PowerPoint in that it uses non-linear navigation and is web-based, but has limited printing options, while PowerPoint uses linear navigation, has a slide stack layout, is computer-based, and has multiple printing options. Bird goes into more of theory when speaking of prezi by stating that during a presentation with a presenter at the front and participants who have come to a session on the basis of the title or abstract of the session, it’s not going to be that much different than PowerPoint.
I am always a few tasks ahead of myself in my mind and very often don’t take the time to ask for clarification, or feedback from others to make sure they understand where I am coming from. In the two examples I provided, lack of feedback was definitely a major cause of the misunderstandings. Just a sentence or two in each case from the receiver quantifying the message could have prevented the misunderstandings from occurring. Instead, I was in a hurry to get that easy task off my to-do list and the customer service rep was probably also in a hurry to get on to her next call and her next order. That is the way life seems to be these days in business.
I realize that I do not know very much about local resources. I have started a portfolio, which I update constantly; however, there is not enough information about local resources which are available for my clients. As for collaboration, sometimes I feel as if I should already know things because I have been there for a while and get a little embarrassed to ask, therefore causing me to feel as if I am on my own. Whenever I do supervision time, my MSW always tells me that I am doing a great job. I am sure I can improve in many areas and I wish my MSW would tell me what those areas
I knew I could succeed in whatever I wanted to do with my life, but the problem was I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. As students; however, we all process many strengths, mine being that I’m a great reader, but I wasn’t always a great reader. When I was in first grade, I was placed in special education because of my poor reading skills. Now this helped me a lot, by showing me where my weaknesses where in reading. Consequently
Students sometimes become so dependent upon technology that they are not exposed to the traditional ways of learning. Because some students might rely on technology in every area of learning, they might never experience what it is like to visit a library or read a printed textbook, especially since so many books can be purchased on audio now. Other disadvantages are that students’ handwriting skills might suffer due to a lack of practice because of their use of the computer to always write reports and essays. Always relying on the computer to find and correct errors while creating documents can result in students having very poor progress in grammar and spelling skills. Because many students also rely on the computer’s calculator, their ability to learn the proper methods of solving math problems might not be as enhanced.
My biggest weakness is an unwillingness to accept my limitations. For example, I often take on too many responsibilities and find myself not being able to do as well as I could in any of them given how overstretched I am. I also have a lot of impatience when it comes to improving things such as how we deliver higher education and need to be willing to accept how slow change can be. Why have you selected psychology as a profession? I did not choose it as a profession as my graduate work is in Higher Education but I like to study psychology in my free time as I think a lot of principles of the field can be applied to making better public policy and improving human
