Legal and ethical responsibility of the care provided is also increasingly shared by the nurses. Nurses are the leaders of care team group. It is very important to train skilled and efficient nurses for the society. The more the education level goes up, patients will get better outcome. Comparison Both baccalaureate degree and associate degree in nursing play an important role in patient care but in two different ways.
The organization builds on this trust as it promotes awareness of public policy and advocates for patient welfare. The value to becoming part of a professional organization on the legislative process is being an advocate. As the largest single group of health care providers, nurses have the potential to successfully advocate from a diverse power base; and they and have a unique perspective on health care policies and expertise to share with power brokers. Nurses need to be a strong voice actively advocating for positive change. Nurses strengthen their power base when they network with nursing colleagues and other supporters to build consensus on important issues.
This means that the agencies identify needs and improvement areas pertaining to the care of the patient to ensure standards throughout all hospitals and health care facilities. The professional nursing organizations (PNO), such as the American Nurses Association have the care of the nurses and patients for the agenda and according to Cherry & Jacob these “organizations monitor public policy and offer avenues for their members to learn about health policy, they serve as an invaluable resources for reliable information related to policy issues and policymakers.” (2011)(p. 489). These professional organizations support the efforts of the nurses in all states and reflect guidelines for all nurses to adhere to provide the best possible care for the patients. As an example, the ANA notifies members of upcoming legislation that will impact the nurses at hospitals, nursing homes and clinics. Through this interaction the nurses are better informed as to what is happening in the political arena, such as patient ratios and shift lengths, this may impact the ability to care for patients or allow the care to improve.
The NCNR dedicated areas within its institute to focus just on how to conduct research. Knowing how to conduct research is important as studies were undergone to not only improve nurses’ ability to slow a patient’s illness, but to also assist the nurse in promoting a healthy lifestyle for the patient. The NCNR believes research is necessary because nurses “are more likely to have continuing contact with the most vulnerable populations” (Merritt, 1987). Research is needed to assist nurses in identifying those patients at risk so interventions can be put into place to empower the patient to realize a healthy lifestyle is achievable. Conclusion Nursing research has always been and continues to be directed toward patient care.
Provide a national training and education plan There are many strong nurses involved in the IAFN who unify their voices to lobby for political change and governmental funding changes. With input, the presidents DNA initiative was implemented. The IAFN is working hard to have the changes applied and educate the community at large. As an advocate for policy change, personally and through the IAFN I have been involved in many grassroots lobbying efforts. Many letters have been written as well as personal visits to policy making officials.

Vision for the future of nursing NUR 391 September 3, 2012 Vision for the future of nursing Today’s nurses focus on care for patients based on evidence based practice, which requires nurses to base their care on research based knowledge. It involves using the most credible and up to date research to guide the nurse through patient care. Evidence based practice (EBP) also stresses the use of known policies and protocols that are based on research rather than based on ‘that is how it has always been done attitudes.’ Evidence based practice also has many potential advantages including greater confidence in decision making and better patient outcomes. EBP has also helped with the nursing process which gears specific patient care to the individual based on that specific patients individual needs (Black, 2011). According to Black (2011), “nursing research enhances the status of nursing as a profession by expanding nursing’s scientific knowledge base.” (pg.

(Potter & Perry, 2011, p. 2) As a professional nurse, you need to stay informed and be aware of the most current evidence or research. (Potter & Perry, 2011, p. 2) Research helps to inform our practice and helps us to improve patient outcomes. Just as it is important for nurses to be aware of current research, it is also critical that nurses have effective and adaptable communication skills. A nurses responsibility is to effectively communicate with patients and their familles, as well as the team. Effective communication allows nurses to develop important therapeutic skills.
