The film I am analysing is Pleasantville directed by Gary Ross. The film is about twins who could not be more apart, David who is the geeky protagonist who has and an obsession with a black and white 1950s sitcom ‘Pleasantville’ while his sister Jennifer, the popular sibling who has a more debauched lifestyle.During a fight between the pair they break the TV remote, an unusual TV repairman appears and gives them a remote that transports them to Pleasantville, the town David's favourite show is based in.The scene I am analysing is David and Jennifer in school hanging out with their different cliques, David eats lunch with his best friend while they discuss about the all-night Pleasantville marathon meanwhile Jennifer is outside lighting a cigarette with her friends going to invite a guy over for the night. Her friends were also wearing similar clothing, all of them were wearing white tops which was showing that they were there as a group and were part of the same clique, although Jennifer had confidence in her which her friends did not seem to contain, according to a recent study held by the School of Psychology at University of Hertfordshire, women, or 96% of them, “believed that what they wear affects how confident they feel,” , many of these women associated wearing slightly more revealing clothes with feeling good and confident with yourself and your body; this could convey that her and her friends clothing showed they were confident and happy with themselves and their bodies.David wears a more unmemorable outfit, a grey t-shirt and grey sweatpants, his outfit suggests that he isn’t there to show off or try and make an impression on his anyone around him as it is basic and boring, he doesn’t seem to care much about his appearance and the same goes for his best
