Searching in different schools, I found that this program has a bunch of resources not only solid basics of nursing theory , but also nursing practice as well as clinical experience that will give me the opportunity of been successful in different practice situations. The fact of been able to have an integral education, joining theory and practice in the first year of study is one of the reasons I choose this program at Ryerson University. Furthermore, I think Nursing at Ryerson would make me not only a student with excellent communication skills, but also more compassionate, knowledgeable and a health care professional capable to lead and influence the health care field. I am very impressed with all the tools and resource the university has to offer the students experience clinical scenarios and situations as well as the facility of learn and practice nursing skills in an environment almost the same as the real hospital life. Study in one of the leaders in nursing education as is Ryerson University would give me the best education and formation to be a successful professional.
According to White, K. R. (2014) “Nurse were the original servant leaders—at the patient’s beside and in communities- and now they are perfectly positioned to take their experience with leadership to a heightened level. In the new world order, nurses have moved from the background to the boardroom, and they have been put in the spotlight to lead transformation of quality healthcare.” (pg.27). White describes how far nursing leaders have come and play an important role on the healthcare team. In their personal experienced they understand what it takes to be a bedside nurse and a second opinion to the physicians. Nursing Leaders They spend their time in areas such as human resources, business planning, quality reporting, information management, and report writing.
Personal Essay Our patients expect a certain level of professionalism and skill in their nurse that will instill confidence in their nurse’s ability to provide care. I have graduated from University of Texas at Tyler with a BSN degree and a 3.2 GPA. I have worked in a hospital setting for the last 3.5 years, which included a great new graduate program. In addition, I have my CMSRN certification. I would love to continue to enhance my education and credentials by attaining a MSN and the Adult Nurse Practitioner certification.
The nursing process is beneficial to the patient, the nurse, and the nursing profession. It ensures that a high quality of care is provided to patients and enhances the patient’s participation in all stages of the process. It provides personal and professional growth to nurses and leads to job satisfaction. For the nursing profession, the nursing process contributes to the autonomy of the profession and defines the scope of the nursing practice. The nursing process includes four phases: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care (Habermann and Uys, 2005).

Bringing together education and healing was a life-changing experience that made me realize that nursing is my true calling. Traditionally, nurses were viewed as caregivers. In today’s world, image of nursing profession changes as nurses play many other roles such as patient’s advocates, educators, managers, team members, facilitators, and experts. (Zerwekh, 2006). As I read the entries from my reflective journal, I could see how my focus shifted from assisting patient with his basic needs at the beginning of the nursing school to more comprehensive nursing care today.
Why I Chose Nursing Being a nurse is a very influential and rewarding profession. Nurses care for people through illness, injury, pain, loss, dying, grieving, birth, growth, aging and health. They not only care for people through illness, but they also promote health, prevent diseases and educate the public. We all know that nursing is a field that is concerned with helping people, yet I believe that in becoming a nurse, a person needs more than that desire to succeed. It is essential for a nurse to be open, strong, determined, thoughtful and caring.
Also having the baccalaureate degree in nursing gives me more opportunities in the competitive career world. There are many qualities that I feel a nursing student as well as a future practicing nurse should posses in order to be accomplished. Many of these qualities I feel I possess in one way or another and also have the ability to progress and strengthen. One of these qualities is solid communication skills. I feel that as a student and a later on a practicing nurse I am able to follow directions and am easily able to communicate with people.
I note that their knowledge and experience from multiples years of nursing prepare them for position that they are now in. The staff nurse provided more direct involvement in her role on the team by educating her patients during care. The nurse educator, on the other hand, was involved with her team indirectly by educating the staff on patient care issues. The interviewees’ position on promoting quality care outcomes requires them both to be directly engaged in the plan of care for the patient’s on their respective units. Although national evidence based research effects nursing as a whole, the staff nurse believes that nursing research has greatly improved her area.

In support of this mission, the nursing team is committed to the delivery and promotion of continuum of exceptional holistic, culturally sensitive and compassionate patient care in timely manner. As part of my career development, I challenge myself by taking a responsibility to be a mentor to a new staff nurse as agreed by my nurse manager.
