Rachael Cecere Freshman English: Personal Reflection Essay Professor Russell Finding Strength and Love Amid the Music Today is a big day. My sister and I have been looking forward to this for a long time. Now on a hot August afternoon, we will finally receive our last Christmas gift. We are walking in the busy streets of New York City. I am in my favorite summer dress, and although I keep bumping into people every other second, there is nothing I can do to get the smile off my face. Just the experience of walking around Times Square seemed like an experience that only could be in a dream. It doesn’t take long to find; I see the marquee from up the street. I want to run, but I don’t want to get hit by a passing car. As we get closer, I can see the posters. They get bigger and bigger. It’s like a highway route sign, just plastered on one side of this small building. I get close and see a line. I can’t believe it. There are a lot of young people here. A lot of older people too. Some even brought their children; I estimate that they are around five to six years old. I just want to ask their parents “Why? Why, would you bring a six year old to this show? Go take them to the Lion King or something.” We don’t have to stand in line. Mom has already bought the tickets. My smile grows even bigger. My sister and I giggle as we pass the people who are waiting to get in. Once I am inside and astounded by beauty of the lobby of the theater, it’s even better than I expected. I have never been in a real Broadway theater before. It seemed much smaller when we were outside, compared to the other buildings surrounding it, but the moment that I step through the double doors, I am just blown away. It reminds me of the Opera Populaire, but smaller. I see two grand staircases that lead up to the balconies. I immediately think of “Box 5,” and wonder if it’s going
