We as citizens have the right to live life in freedom without undue harm and to pursue our dreams and goals. Jefferson believes the government needs to respect our opinion by not putting it aside and to just listen to the citizens. The citizens have the right to set up a new government so the citizens have a better political life. To achieve the happiness we desire, the need for possession would be required. The author’s vocabulary and diction was another thing I really liked. He used advanced vocabulary frequently, yet it was still easy to understand. The way he put the words together made it flow extremely well. The setting that John Knowles set was really good. It was easy to tell where and when the book was, from the start.
Accomplishing your goal can also make someone successful, but it all depends on what type of goals are being shot for. Successful men and women are not always the wealthiest, and most powerful, but live happy and self sufficient lives. In Cannery Row , the main character are successful in their own way which makes them different and unique from each other. Doc is one of the most important character in Cannery Row; he is a good resercher that has no money but has knowledge and knows thing that many people don't. Doc could be the most successful character because he is caring, and has a really good reputation, generous, which leads to the fact that he earns respect from others.
Hal and his friends go out for drinks and get laid, showing basic forms of sanity among most people. Every serious story led to another joke that kept begging me to keep reading. He was very straight forward with the things he said and thought, and made comparing his stories to everyday life scenarios a lot easier and helped me to learn to laugh. I really enjoyed my time reading Me Talk Pretty One Day. I’ve never laughed so much and haven’t wanted to put a book down. This is definitely a book that I would recommend.
