I am always a few tasks ahead of myself in my mind and very often don’t take the time to ask for clarification, or feedback from others to make sure they understand where I am coming from. In the two examples I provided, lack of feedback was definitely a major cause of the misunderstandings. Just a sentence or two in each case from the receiver quantifying the message could have prevented the misunderstandings from occurring. Instead, I was in a hurry to get that easy task off my to-do list and the customer service rep was probably also in a hurry to get on to her next call and her next order. That is the way life seems to be these days in business.
Mr. Wilson was responsible for accounting control of MSCC funds and didn’t share Mr. Lassiter’s vision of better automating the organization. Whereas Mr. Lassiter wanted to commit funds in order to progress, Mr. Wilson felt it better to alleviate costs and continue to maintain the current software by hiring a systems analyst, Simon Kovecki. In a combined effort, Mr. Wilson and Mr. Kovecki maintained and upgraded workstation software. However, as MSCC began to grow, the increase in firm members and MSCC staff brought to light Mr. Wilsons
To me this is inclusive practice and helps to stop discriminatory practice and respects the preferences of the resident. I find it frustrating when other carers decide for the resident to save time but to remain professional I would not talk to them about it in front of a resident and would stay calm when discussing the issue. I have been bought up in an environment where you always show respect even if you disagree with a person. I play a big part in the induction training of new carers. When carrying out this training I am careful not to push my own beliefs and attitudes onto the new carers and use the policies and procedures to explain the standards expected.
As the functional conflict is very much beneficial for the organization, she would help by fearing people to get the job done. On the other hand the dysfunctional conflict threatens the organization’s interest. In 2004, Ruck us Wireless, Selina Lo was unable to recruit executives from the other organization she knew. The main reason they were aware about her management and leadership style. Ability to manage oneself and interact with others in mature and constructive is emotional intelligence.
I know how to recognize fallacies and can judge the validity and credibility of the source. The activities also help me realize my strengths and weaknesses when it comes to communicating. Communication is the key to any successful business. I now know how vital it is to have a clear understanding when communicating. When sending messages, I have to make sure it is able be decoded and seek feedback to ensure we are on the same level.
In this example, the climbers ignored the evidence that told them that they should turn away from their goal an instead invested more time and energy which led to their deaths. According to Locke and Latham (2006) as long as a person is committed to their goal and does not have any other conflicting goals, there is a positive relationship between the goal and performance. Unfortunately though, goal setting has been prescribed and not monitored. Therefore, like all prescription abuse, organizations fail to recognize the harm that goals can caused due to creating a narrow minded focus. Goal setting needs to be prescribed and carefully monitored to identify the harmful side effects in order to be effective for the organization and employees and drive success.
The author of the article explains her experience with the DisDAT and its use on a patient she had with a learning disorder and the final stages of dementia. She says that some patients cannot communicate verbally, which is the best way to communicate, and so this tool helps with the determining the nonverbal signs of what the patient might be experiencing. The tool does not explain why the patient is in distress, just that they are showing signs of distress. It is then up to the professionals to decide what the causes are of their patient’s condition and what to do about their patient. The downside to this tool is that it’s developers aren’t sure how reliable the machine is in accurately interpreting patient’s signs.
Appropriateness of a treatment focus on how/what is the treatment appropriate for , for Example: if we consider the appropriateness of a surgery for abnormality, Surgery is used only as last resort, where the patient has failed to respond to other forms of treatment and their disorder is very severe. In psychodynamic approach treatments usually focus on bringing the repressed conflict to conscious, where the patient can deal with it. Psychodynamic approach includes psychodynamic therapies such as classical psychoanalysis (which includes free and word association, dream analysis and projective tests) and brief psychodynamic therapy. Psychodynamic therapies are appropriate for disorders such as mild anxiety, mild depression but not for severe cases. Psychodynamic approach is also not appropriate for disorders such as schizophrenia as the patient lacks insight and may not understand the therapeutic process.
However, when speaking to a client, using jargon and medical terms can be considered as inappropriate and confusing for the people involved. When Patients come into a hospital, they are concerned with their health and they would want to know as much information as a nurse can give them. By using the correct language, and knowing how much information to divulge, a nurse can positively contribute to the care of their client. (Wright, Lorraine M.; Leahey, Maureen. 2009).
THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES IN MENTAL HEALTH NURSING CARE. This essay will reflect on my experience whilst on placement. It would show how I engaged, sustained and disengaged from the therapeutic relationship with a service user through the use of appropriate communication and interpersonal skills. Chambers et al (2005, p303) suggest interpersonal and therapeutic relationships are at the centre of nursing work, the relationship that exists between nurse and patient can often provide the energy and be the catalyst, the motivation and the source of strength to continue with treatment or face difficult situations. I felt the need to develop therapeutic relationships with service users so they felt they could put their trust in me that I was there to listen and talk to them not just care for them.
