To gain that support, Paine wrote “The Crisis” in an everyday, familiar manner to inspire the common man to action. His quest was to enlighten and motivate a nation to defend a cause. Paine’s words are still relevant today and can be used to inspire America to come together regarding our major issues such as terrorism and economic distress. America’s oppressed can still be stirred to action with the words: “These are the times that try men’s souls” (Paine 637).

An anthem that when you sing or listen to it, it makes you feel proud of being an American. The perfect national Anthem will have to be America the beautiful; the title of the song says it all. The star spangled banner anthem lacks that proud feeling that Americans have for their land. The current anthem shows to others that Americans are proud of a war and all the blood that was shed. Americans should not be seen as Americans the big bullies, where we wave our flag proud in the face of other countries in times of a war.
America is portrayed as a land with a bright future that needs the people suffering from the injustices to fight for what they deserve. It is up to those who are underprivileged to stand up and fight for their rights. Those who are living the American dream are not going to willingly give up their own freedom and rights to give it to other groups, who they see as undeserving. Contrary to their belief, all Americans are worthy of the American dream under the United States Constitution. It states, "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
