Existing descriptive epidemiology provides the data and tentative hypotheses for public health to move on to the second phase of epidemiologic study, analytic epidemiology. The CDC presents the results of analytic epidemiology in the Children’s Food Environment State Report, 2011 where it presents opportunities for community action in relation to “selected behaviors, environments, and policies that affect childhood obesity through support of healthy eating” (CDC, 2011).
