Loraine Rodriguez My Turning Point I have met a lot of people and they are all different, as well as their way and outlook of life. Some learn from their mistakes while other fall under the influence that we inherit from our parents and/or by the mass opinion (tv, magazines, internet, etc.). I think that most people try to live in accordance to a pattern that is fixed by the mass-media. For instance, we have to be good at school, then we have to enroll in university, and get a well paid job. But despite these seemingly positive directions, there is a number of negatives. Young people smoke, drink, and spend most of their free time partying, as they are too concerned about their appearance to notice what’s really important in life. In real life “happy endings” don’t occur as often as they do in movies. The Summer of 2013, when I opened my eyes and started to appreciate life. I was in the 10th grade when a couple of friends and I passed the FCAT exam. We were thrilled, so a couple classmates and I decided to go to the beach to relax and celebrate this awesome occasion, nothing really seemed more important back then. It was a hot day but we had a good time, we swam in the ocean and played football on the sand. On our way home, we joked, laughed and enjoyed a good day at the beach. It seemed like nothing bad could’ve happened. We were going excessively fast on the highway until we reached our designated exit where the driver then attempts to slow down in order to drive down the ramp safely but our speed limit past safe a long time ago. The driver then fails to slow down and looses control of the wheel at 140 mph. We went over the edge and then rolled approximately 9 times till we hit and reached to the top of a wall that we later discovered “broke our fall”.
