Personal and Community Health Assignment 3 My Food Pyramid The overall quality of my diet in the food pyramid is decent. The quality of my diet could most definitely be much better, but it could also be much worse. My milk intake is underrepresented, but only by half of a cup. I have never been a huge fan of milk, unless it is accompanied by cereal or Oreos. However, I feel as if I can manage to easily change my diet by adding an extra glass of milk to my diet at the end of the night. I also need to work on my fruit intake. Within the past 48 hours I did not consume any fruit, and the fruit recommendation for me is 1.5 cups. I believe if I consciously make a note to buy fruit when I’m at the grocery store that I will be able to reach my recommended intake of fruit with ease. However, being a college student I tend to overlook fruit items, and head straight towards tastier, unhealthier, easier snack items. According to MyPyramid I am actually over my recommended intake for meat and beans, vegetables, as well as grains. My meat and beans intake was 8.1 ounces, and the recommended intake for me is 5 ounces. My vegetable intake was 6.6 cups, and the recommended intake is 2. 5 cups. My grain intake is 7 ounces, and the recommended intake for me is 6 ounces. Based on information from the MyPyramid Tracker, I definitely think I need to focus on adding more fruits to my daily diet. I could easily do so buy coorporating a fresh smoothie into my day for a snack. I could also nibble on fruit for an end of the day snack/dessert to ensure I am getting the proper amount of fruits into my daily diet. The website also gave me some good suggestions as to how to make fruit more accessible for me during the day. Some of the suggestions I will most likely use are to keep a bowl of whole fruit on the counter. This would probably encourage me to grab a piece of
