Healthy Plan Eating Comparison Michael Schaffer My diet on the first week when I did this assignment was comparable to the food and diet pyramid. I was living a pretty healthy life. I was training for a marathon, which had me running 5 times a week. I worked at a gym, so health and fitness was part of my everyday life. I worked out five days a week also. My diet was pretty clean and healthy. The only descrepancies I saw between my diet and the recommendations set forth by the pyramid is that I didn’t consume enough fruit and vegetables. I consumed a lot of meat and breads and rice. I had to consume a decent amount of carbs to fuel my runs and workouts. I would only consume 0-1 servings of fruits or vegetables…show more content…
I have also upped my fruit intake to at least two servings a day which is an increase from the .5 or 1 serving a day I was consuming when I did the assignment on week one. It is very important to get your daily intake of vitamins and minerals, which you can get a substantial amount from fruits and vegetables. One aspect of my diet and nutrition that I feel I do a good job on is proper supplementation. To get your daily recommended intake of vitamins and minerals you would need to eat about five to six thousand calories a day. Of course, if you ate five to six thousand calories a day you would gain a substantial amount of weight very quickly. To get the proper amount of nutrients and minerals without eating that much food you need to have the proper supplementation. I take a multivitamin daily to get the essential nutrients and minerals I am missing out on. I also take a joint support pill to combat all of the stress I put on my joints from the distance running I do. I also take an antioxidant pill to offset the lack of vegetables in my diet.
