As teaching assistants, in order to communicate effectively, we need to be very clear in what we say. Children, young people and adults need us to communicate what is expected of them so they learn the boundaries of professional relationships and children can learn to communicate effectively themselves. Effective communication amongst pupils and adult allows the pupil to have a proper understanding of what they are expected to do, how they are expected to behave, what resources they need.
A support group is vital for this method. Cooperative learning is the best technique for increasing anti-bias awareness and understanding. Everyone needs the diverse viewpoints and honest feedback of colleagues to develop new awareness and teaching practices. In order to help the children understand the boundaries of what is acceptable, it is important that we follow them with out fail whilst asking the pupils to behave in a particular way. Effective communication is fundamental in developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults alike. In the role of Classroom Assistant it is vital to develop good, appropriate relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents and any other professional third party agencies involved in a child’s care and education. To provide a conducive learning environment, adults in the classroom must work together by communicating clearly and professionally with each other, both verbally and non-verbally. This will avoid confusion and inconsistency during lessons. For example I find it essential to discuss the day’s lesson plan and targets with my class teacher.

When effectively communicating, you must really connect with your audience and in order to do so you use your active listening skills so that you are able to interpret what they are saying and understand, listening to their tone of voice, making eye contact and observing their body language. Children and young people learn from observing how adults interact with each other, this influences on how they behave and communicate. Therefore, as a teaching assistant, it is important to demonstrate your communication skills and be a positive role model. Children and young people can benefit from effective communication because it helps them to achieve, pupils will understand what is expected of them, which helps display unwanted behavior. Sometimes pupils may lack confidence and find it hard to communicate, so it is especially important to be mindful and approach them in a positive and gentle manner, this helps to build trust.
The most important qualities of an outstanding educator. The most important qualities of an outstanding educator relate to the way they interact with the students and present the material to them. An outstanding educator cultivates the ability to listen to and understand the student to better determine the level of comprehension the student has attained. The educator must be patient with the students and allow students of differing levels of ability and achievement the time and tools they need to absorb the material. They must differentiate the lessons with the goal of reaching each student's zone of proximal development.
Children will lear and develop when ether is a friendly environment with people they trust. Every child is different so we should adapt the way we communicate to fulfil the individual needs.
