‘Memory shapes our reality’ A person perceives reality as a recollection of past experiences. A memory resurfaces all the feelings of emotion felt at a specific time in a person’s life. It is a cognitive process whereby a past experience is remembered. Unfortunately one cannot control certain emotions from occurring; whether they represent happiness and excitement, or pain and sorrow. These feelings reshape a person’s perception of reality, however fortunate or unfortunate they can be. A memory as simple as the taste of a particular food can reshape reality into what it really. Every time a child enters a McDonald’s restaurant they immediately choose what their heart most desires. In other words they choose the item of which they remember as being the most delicious item in the store. They think back to their last trip to McDonald’s, and how wonderful it makes them feel. Without memory there is only a variety of unknown meals just waiting to be tasted. But fortunately memory does exist, and with it the child is drawn to their favourite meal. This will lead to the creation of a new memory that will reshape the decisions the child makes in the future. The recollection of that of a teenager’s personal experience reshapes their life with such magnitude that will force them into taking precautions to avoid any other similar encounters. Regurgitating due to a large quantity of alcohol consumed is quite a frequent occurrence amongst teenagers. This unfortunate yet inevitable event is a process many teenagers go through in order for them to learn from their past experiences. The teenager is now aware of the damage alcohol can incur to their body and has learnt from their mistakes of consuming too much of the substance. They now know their limits and have the memory of the day they fell sick to ensure that such an event doesn’t occur again. A boy’s crush on a girl
