It was becoming more complex, especially in math. I enjoyed the challenge even if I didn’t fully understand, so I would ask my friends at school for help. They would always be happy to, and even laughed with me about the silly mistakes I would make because I was never careful to pay attention to
The thing is this doesn’t go on in every other grade school; those other kids that don’t get this option are stuck. They are just given their homework every day and they have to go through the same routine without the 8th grade partner. This type of help builds on the civil literacy, it helps the young 1st grader mature more at a young age and be able to do some of the stuff the 8th graders do because they set good examples around the little
When I have free time and friends need help with their homework, I would volunteer to help them during lunch. My best subject is in math and it’s also my favorite subject. On my sixth grade CST scores, in math, was 600 out of 600. I believe I am more than capable to be in Honors Algebra 2. Everyone has dreams.
Math was something I was always good at because I looked at it like a challenge to my intellect, I am right or I am wrong. On one occasion when I was doing math work in class, my teacher asked me to do complex math problems, and I did them with no problem. My teacher was surprised I could do them; in fact she took me out of special education for math because of this. Now this gave me an outlook that my teacher did not know my potential as a student and she was not going to challenge me. She was just going to give me work based on what she thought my ability was.
When I first opened the test, I realized that some of the topics included were never taught. I didn’t miss any math classes throughout the year, so I didn’t understand why the questions were so difficult. I was nervous to get my test results
Pet Peeve Speech In school the idea that we all learn differently and in our own ways is stressed to us from kindergarten right up to your senior year. I don't disagree with that at all, in fact I feel deeply that we all do in fact learn in ways unique to us. The teachers and staff here at Iron Mountain High School do a fantastic job of catering to the needs of individuals who have troubles grasping concepts or just can't seem to understand something the first time it's explained to them. Once again I'm fine with that, but not everyone needs that much help. Not everyone wants that much help!
Reflection on Liebeck and Skemp Reflecting on my readings of Skemp, R. (1989) Mathematics in the Primary School, and Liebeck, P. (1990) How Children Learn Mathematics. I have reflected on the importance of Mathematics in the world around us as human beings and how it is taught within our schools. Skemp asks the question ‘Why is Mathematics still a problem subject for so many?’ One of the theories put forward is that the teaching of Maths is seen as satisfying teachers and adults by children achieving ticks for their mathematical work passing exams without fully understanding the subject. However children are achieving this through rote, a form of habitual learning. Intelligent learning is adaptable achieving the answer by way of different procedures or routes (building up knowledge) in understanding how to figure out the problem by a variety of schemas.
My favorite thing to do in my spare time is read a book and watch crime shows. My strongest subject is English ,and my weakest subject is Math. I love to help people out even if I don't know them i will still lend a hand. I'm very quite , but I'm trying to come out of that an learn to be more talkative. Ever since I was in Elementary school I never really liked math maybe because I really didn't understand it.
There I attended Johnson Primary School. When I had left my previous grade school, I was excelling in every subject and absolutely loved school. I quickly began to hate school once I started at Johnson Primary. The children at Johnson Primary were learning math in a different way than I had been taught. Although I was getting the correct answers, they believed that I was figuring out the
The teachers don’t assign as much homework as they did in middle school. In high school there is less homework but it is harder. My favorite class is math because we don’t have math problems as homework, all we have to do is watch videos on what the problems are about. One of the harder classes is marching band because not only do we practice during school but after school most nights like a sport. Marching band takes up most of my
