Book report 4/19/12 AOE “The Black Box” written by Julie Schumacher is a story about one girls struggle through depression. This novel is different from other stories because it is told through the perspective of her sister, Elena. Elena tells the story of her sister Dora’s depression and how it not only affected Dora’s life but the whole family’s life as well. This story takes place in Elena’s home where Dora one day announced that she wishes she was dead and overdosed on pills. Their overprotective mother immediately put Dora in the psych ward at Lorning Hospital.
Maria Worrall aged 78years had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and had suffered several falls; she had ended up bed bound and admitted to hospital. Whilst at hospital it was agreed that Maria would need to go into a nursing home as she was no longer able to do anything for herself and needed to be cared for. Jane Worrall cared for her mother for a little while she would do all the dressing, bathing and cooking. Everything seems fine until one of the younger girls, Betty, leashes out with compulsive attacks, and the doctor cannot find a physical explanation. A few days later, the other girls begin to have these similar attacks. When a new doctor examines the girls, he notes that the attacks are a result from a spell. When asked who taught them the spells, Betty exclaimed it was Tituba along with two other women in the village. Starkey points out that none of these women attend church.
When the teacher noticed that Jojo was rapidly losing weight, she contacted Anna, who told the teacher to mind her own business. Because Jojo continued to lose weight and was hardly able to move during class time, the teacher filed an abuse report for neglect. Jojo was removed from Anna’s care and placed in a foster home. Jojo gained weight and began to thrive in foster care. Whenever she visited with her mother, she cried and ran away from her.
My friend lifted up her shirt, showed her a bright red (not pink) belly, and told her mother she had been calling and informing the doctor's office for days. They simply told her it was normal to have pain, not to worry, and they could not fit her in for an appointment until the following week. From the site of my friends stomach, her mother rushed her to the emergency room in horror. What my friend had was a horrible disease called necrotizing fasciitis and it had spread through parts of her body like wild fire. So I began investigating and found that she was not the only one.
You sponge her in bed. You have checked the bed and room, but you are concerned because she appears confused and you feel she is in danger of falling when she tries to get out of bed. Her daughter and husband are in attendance. You have explained what tests will be carried out, when the doctor will be coming and explain about visiting hours. You ensure that they understand what you have just explained to them.

Along with previous scenario stated, let’s review another case: A phlebotomist from a contracted lab begins his daily rounds of blood collections for the day in a long term care facility. He enters room 201 to draw a 85-year-old woman who was admitted for atrial fibrillation. When he introduces himself and asks for consent to draw her blood, she shouts, "No!" and asks you to leave and not come back. The patient made it very clear that she did not want the phlebotomist to draw her blood (Finnegan, 2013).This same phlebotomist has drawn her for several days for a Prothrombin Time (PT) and Activated Thromboplastic Time (aPTT) without incident, so he reports this situation to the nurse.
DOUBT REVIEW DOUBT, a parable written by John Patrick Shanley and directed by Jeffrey Sanzel opened at Theatre Three in Port Jefferson leaving the audience with a plethora of issues to ponder. This one and half hour production with no intermission covers the complexity of perspectives as Sister Aloysius Beauvier played by Linda Mae, accuses Father Flynn, played by Evan Teich of wrongdoing with regard to one of the students at St. Nicholas School set in the Bronx in 1964. Shanley was raised in a working class Irish Catholic family and attended St. Anthony’s, a Roman Catholic school (grades K-8), run by the sisters of Charity of New York. In her novel The Handmaid's Tale, Margaret Atwood tells a story of a young female named Offred. Offred has been separated from her family and is pushed to be a guy's, labeled Commander, sex toy. This is going on because babies need to be born since the human race is decreasing due to a war. There are a group of women named Handmaids who are basically treated like nobodies.
