Becoming “famous” has become more widespread than ever because of inventions such as the Internet, television and radio. But what does becoming “famous” mean? Famous means having a widespread reputation, being renowned and celebrated. Many people spend their whole lives trying to get noticed without anyone even acknowledging them. Yet, some people are noticed without even trying. What is their secret? Are they just lucky or do they actually deserve this recognition? Many people have achieved fame through TV programmes such as “The X Factor” and “Britains got talent”. Names such as One Direction and Ashley and Pudsey have become household names, not just in Britain and Ireland, but all over the world. In order to succeed in competitions such as these the contestant needs to be different and stand out as they are up against thousands, sometimes millions of other people just as good as them. If TV programmes are not the way they want to go, there are many opportunities on the Internet for a fame craving person. Websites such as YouTube allow you to post a video of yourself singing, dancing or doing whatever it is you do, and make it available to millions of people. Celebrities such as Justin Bieber took advantage of this rich social network and now live the lavish lifestyle that many people envy. Why is it, however, that some people achieve Fame and reputation while some do not. Confidence may be the most evident factor. As much as the person may desire to become famous and live like a celebrity, they may be shy and self conscious. Many people don't have the drive to keep trying when they are rejected. When, in fact, it may be the next audition that they will finally catch a break. The public are constantly looking for people that stand out and are different.
