Graduation had come for the three of us! Christy, Jaime and I wanted to celebrate our accomplishment but knew we didn’t want to do it in Denver. We decided on Las Vegas. Within four days, we booked our flight and hotel and were set to have the time of our lives. Packed and ready to go we crammed our bags into Jaime’s car and were off to DIA. After going through security we made our way to our gate, which was already starting to board. We settled in our seats in the 15th row, anxious to take off. An hour and a half seemed to take more like 6 hours in my mind. We talked about all we would do and see the whole way there. Beep. “Ladies and gentleman please place your seats in the upright position and make sure your trays are up, please make sure your seatbelts are fastened as we approach our landing,” the young blond flight attendant said over the intercom. 15 minutes later a shiny black Lincoln town car arrived and out stepped a bald male. He greeted us, told his name was Steve and helped with our bags. Where to ladies?” I replied “The Stratosphere por favor.” He laughed at my Spanglish and mispronunciation of the word, then proceeded to drive to our destination. It had gotten a little darker since landing and now the lights were really a site to see. The streets were filled with people from all walks of life, homeless, young, old, black, white, even shirtless. Flashes from cameras came from all directions. Wow Vegas was something I thought. Our hotel was in Old Vegas and was the last hotel in the strip. Looking at the hotel, the first thing we saw was a green claw like machine hanging over the top of the hotel. We would later find out this contraption was called Insanity. Insanity was correct because you’d have to be insane to get on this
