Fear of confrontation with resourceful parents overwhelms their desire of alerting child neglect. As a result children may continue to live in negligent despite public knowledge. Children with disabilities have in general a larger risk of being abused (predators seek out the weakest). Knowing this, both families and teachers have a very low threshold for alerting Child welfare. The situation may improve if the issue of children’s welfare were put on the agenda, in media as well as in school.
After spanking children, they will stop what they are doing at the time and will immediately obey their authority. However, a short time later the children will forget about their misbehavior, but the feeling of the abuse will still remain in their recollection. Psychological control is another way parents can punish their child. This method “uses guilt and the child’s gratitude toward the parent”(307). When this is being portrayed, parents may use signs of disappointment and sadness to control the child’s behavior, causing them feel guilt-ridden and upset for what they did.
Divorce affects each member of the family which children experience it differently. Parents should sit down with their children and discuss the situation, but not going into detail, that would give mixed feelings towards the parent that is in fault. Even though parents are getting a divorce, they still are the most important people in a child’s life. Children tend to feel lonely, depressed, and rejected because of the situation. Children’s emotions, feelings, and how they cope with depends on how the parents display their coping skills (Lewis, 1999).
The child could also feel a sad disappointed feeling because their parent won’t give them the attention a child should be receiving or a child could just be being neglected all together possibly by the parent just not caring, but I will tell you all about these things in my paragraphs below. First, Physical abuse: where a parent physically hits the child. The child will have unexplained burns, bites, bruises, broken bones, or black eyes. Also if the child screams and fusses that they don’t want to go or when the time comes to go home. A child could also feel as if any adult that approaches then could be harm to them.
Erikson’s believed that childhood is very important in trying to develop a child’s personality. Erikson and Freud were somewhat alike when it comes to things like id, ego, and superego because they both felt that go was very important in personality develop. Personality development is the development of organized pattern of behaviors and attitudes that make up a person. There are many things that can mess up a child’s personality, for example stress, no love, environment, other peers, and overall feelings to belong as a person. Erikson’s stages of Personality development are stage 1) Trust vs. Mistrust, 2) Autonomy vs. Shame & Doubt 3) Initiative vs.
Abusive parents who use hitting, neglecting basic needs, and other action that lower an individual’s sense of self-worth, have a negative impact on the health of a child. Nurture also affects the growth of humans, because studies show that babies who receive affection from their parents will develop from children to adults who are happy and competent. It is proven that children who lack early emotional attachments or grow up fearful and expecting to be hurt will have a difficult time relating to peers. This method is wrong because it had bad consequences. Parents can use the correct method of education when the child baby. Many parents never learned from their own childhood that there are positive ways of relating to children. For example when punishment does not accomplish the desired goals, and if the parent is unaware of alternative methods, punishment can escalate to more frequent and dangerous actions against the child. Parents believe that beating is a means of discipline and kind of education.
Carers should take into consideration any form of distress shown by the individual e.g. a service user may have a tendency to be aggressive to service providers. The psychodynamic perspective would explain this by saying that the individuals aggressive behaviour is due to experiencing inner turmoil and tensions and conflicts from the person’s past are projected into current situations. Service providers should not take this personally – it will be due to unresolved conflicts with one’s same sex parent. In severe cases help should be provided through the use of psychotherapy.
You can help the child avoid those types of situations. Also providing them strategies to handle those situations will help control their behavior. Using the four goals of psychology will help a child that is emotional disturbed or having behavioral problems have more successful opportunities in school and throughout their life. Another example of how the goals of psychology can make a difference is with repeating criminals. Describing their behavior and what type of crimes they are committing may offer insight and understanding on why they do what they do.
The behaviors whether verbal or nonverbal, cause a child to be mentally manipulated or bullied into believing a loving parent is the cause of all their problems, or the enemy to be feared, hated, disrespected and avoided. Hostile parenting deprives children of their right to be loved by, and showing love for both of their parents. It is a severe form of child abuse, which puts the children in fear of their own parent. The child living in such an abusive environment is taught hatred, which will affect them for the rest of their lives. Hostile Parenting destroys a loving relationship between a parent and a child, in a way that affects the child in all aspects of their life.
