I would give some explanations form my own experiences as well as showing the major differences between other trades. Like how a hairstylist, plumber and electricians have to be licensed by the state and there are no requirements to be a mechanic. I would also show how unskilled labor can be dangerous as well as what other conditions and hours a mechanic has to work. I will also tell the audience how the honest guy always gets walked on and how the one who cuts corners always seem to be the top producer and money maker. I will show how shops are profit driven and how the managers push techs to sell.
For Kudler Fine Foods to fall into this category means that they sell differentiating products from their competitors. They do this by offering their customers a wide variety of goods, an example would be that they offer over 250 kinds of cheese from 21 different countries, not all grocery stores offer that many kinds of cheese. One positive effect of being in a monopolistic competitive market structure is that there is no barrier for entry and that it is easy enter and leave the market at any time. One negative effect that monopolistic competitive markets face is that some differentiating does not create utility but usually generates waste (Economics Online). In a monopolistic competitive market profit is important.
Grocery stores are in competition with smaller markets like Kudlers and Whole Foods. If the brand name grocery stores like Ralphs and Vons did not offer organic and specialty items, the market structure of Kudler Fine Foods would differ. This market structure positively affected Kudler because there was no barrier to entrance within the quality foods market. What negatively affects the company with this market structure is that they are compared to big companies who are able to supply some of these rare items at a more competitive price. One of the marketing strategies that ensure the company of long-term profitability is the personal relationship built with the customer base.
While many will only be looking for other dollar stores following exactly the same format, that is incorrect. In today's marketplace all types of retailers are adding dollar departments and dollar aisles to their stores. Every one of these companies represents a threat to your business. It's important that you know them and what they are doing. Determine how best to use your company's strengths to overcome the strengths and overall performance of the competition you've found.
("Store Wars," n.d., Big store, business practices section, para. 1).The low prices may be great for the economy, but that's about all walmart is doing for America. For people who work at Walmart, in order to make ends meet, they usually have to work at two different jobs. Their significant other usually has to work, too. Not enough money and too much stress lowers the quality of life that people have, and their standards of living also drop, as they are forced to get by with cheap, low-quality items (Nickels, McHugh & McHugh, 2010).
An automated ordering system will help with this issue, as well. Having qualified people in positions such as the baker, wine steward and butcher, are essential to the core values of Kudler Fine Foods. Having to pay them, does make the payroll higher, but it is a cost, that this business will have to pay. Having these people is one reason customers shop there, for the advice, and interaction these people provide. Qualified in store experts, is something that sets this business apart from other stores.
Being a fine foods store that specializes in foods that do not use any type of preservatives there will always be a problem with waste. To help curb this problem I propose implementing a system that allows Kathy to forecast sales by using data from previous years. This new system will not completely solve the problems with throwing away food but, it will help Kathy forecast what she needs and will help to ensure that she does not order more than necessary. The second issue which is the high-payroll problem is a little more difficult to deal with. A possible way to help compensate for these high salary positions is to allow other employees to train with the current butcher, baker, and wine
Boots have to make sure that they are able to meet customer expectations P4 - Identify the competitive factors in the retail environment a selected organization faces Bargaining power of buyers: Customers are powerful potential buyers as they can switch easily and doesn’t cost them much as they have stores in easy locations. However supermarkets will have to reduce prices in order to attract customers. There are a lot of small sellers and few large buyers as the buyers buy in large quantities which show that they are powerful. A single buyer is a large customer to a firm as they buy more. Buyers purchase from multiple sellers at once, such as customer stores.
When looking at the bottom line, this practice takes an employee away from working the register or counter as well as increases the costs associated with providing goods for no profit. As a manager, I support Kudler’s practice of offering the samples. I see that it makes the customers happy and our employees get to know members within the community. The event offers more social interaction than a traditional grocery store could offer. Although it may cost most to staff this event, my values and ethics tell me I should concentrate on what is most beneficial to my employees and my customers.
I agree with Zinczenko on his critical viewpoint on how he looks at the fast food industry. Fast food is part of the blame because most of them are not healthy and are bad for consumers. The calories of a Big Mac, medium fry, and a medium Coke are almost equivalent to the daily intake of these industry’s consumers. Zinczenko uses the analogy of a simple salad we would assume is healthy. Our fast food industry needs to provide these nutritional facts in easy reach for their customers.
