However, this innocence means that children are seen as vulnerable and in need of protection from dangers of the adult world. Children’s lives, as a result of this, are lived largely in the confinement of the family and education, where adults provide for them. Similarly, unlike adults, children mainly lead lives of leisure and play and cannot partake in paid work. Cultural differences have an impact on people’s views of childhood. Ruth Benedict argued that children from Less Economically Developed Countries and non-industrial societies are treated differently from modern, Western children: they take responsibility from a younger age.
Since they let their responsibility go, the house replaced the parents which made the children feel that the house is their parents. Also, with the amount of technology they have, they rely on technology too much which became other human contact. With that being said, technology doing everything for you is not great but to an extent it is fine. In the short story, “The Veldt”, the house takes responsibility for the family and the children feel that the house is their parents. The children rely on their technology that is available for them instead of their parents.
Children learn by trying out new experiences and making choices. But they do not have the skills and judgement always to make safe choices. Carers have the responsibility to I identify potential hazards in any situation and to judge when it is safe to allow a child to undertake an activity or make choice. Some children needs their freedom to explore risk even more then others. For example a disabled child may be restricted in play at home because of parental concern that the child could hurt themselves.
It’s as if the kids have vanished. Where are they? Indoors, doing homework or playing video games. For many parents, the mere mention of video games conjures visions of kids’ little brains turning to mush from staring at a screen all day. Parents should regulate the amount of video games their children play because if your child regularly plays games with plots based on violence and aggression, research shows children at risk for increased aggressive behavior, it inhibits social interaction, and it is not always intellectually stimulating.
Foster Care does more harm than good Foster Care is a system established to enhance the lives of children without stable homes to reside in. I have friends and associates that have been raised in an unstable institution, group home, or private foster care home. I don’t believe that all children that come from a foster care situation end up becoming delinquents to our society. I think most foster care children don’t feel loved and appreciated, this could be a result of why foster children don’t demonstrate much love and affection towards their foster parents. In this discussion I want my audience to understand how unstable our foster care system is these days.
Unrestricted use of TV sets and computer games, game consoles and online networking games, along with Internet chat rooms, mobile phones and other kinds of technological devices can make children addicted to technology and socially alienated. The growth of informational technology gives them a lot of opportunities, but also makes them lazy and less responsible. Children spend much more time on computers than they spend on studying their books for school or socializing with friends. There were times when one could take strolls and see children playing all kinds of games, running and laughing. Nowadays, it is likely that children are home sitting in front of a TV or computer, watching or playing games.
Just my opinion, but I think it's getting worse. It's considered wrong to even spank your children these days. When we misbehaved as children, our rear ends were red. Now, you have to worry that CPS is going to come knocking on your door. As a result, I think children are getting by with more and more.
3. Socially Children have many friends at school, at their neighborhood, and at home. When children start being addict to violent video games, they would not talk to them. Hence they would play their video games and lose friends. They would be violent like the video game their playing.
Maybe adult pornography sites don’t apply to every single kid, but how about the violent, gory, and explicit video games that elementary school children play? They still play those horrific games even when it gives them nightmares, and affects their ability to work during school. The internet is also like the home of false information and children trafficking center. As cliché as it sounds, not everything from the internet is true; people can
Mattel has also been slammed by negative press, which has maligned its reputation for product safety. Recent forays into the technology arena have left Mattel battered and gun-shy as they struggle to gain a foothold in the gaming market. Opportunities – Children still play with toys allowing Mattel to continue doing what it does best: make toys and games. More adults are finding wealth that allows for some degree of luxury spending: nostalgic collecting and toy purchases for the next generation of children extends the product life cycle of some products. Websites, social media, and electronic games are wide open opportunities that Mattel can enlist to increase sales of existing products and introduce new ones.
