Students sometimes become so dependent upon technology that they are not exposed to the traditional ways of learning. Because some students might rely on technology in every area of learning, they might never experience what it is like to visit a library or read a printed textbook, especially since so many books can be purchased on audio now. Other disadvantages are that students’ handwriting skills might suffer due to a lack of practice because of their use of the computer to always write reports and essays. Always relying on the computer to find and correct errors while creating documents can result in students having very poor progress in grammar and spelling skills. Because many students also rely on the computer’s calculator, their ability to learn the proper methods of solving math problems might not be as enhanced.
STUDENTS LEARNING OUTCOME Rock Valley College have been and will continue to help student graduate or continue their education with the best knowledge of the student learning outcome also knowing as SLO. The six SLO are Communicate effectively, Integrate technology into all fields of knowledge and expression, Demonstrate competency in critical thinking, Respect and work effectively with persons of diverse backgrounds and abilities, Demonstrate the behaviors of ethical and socially responsible citizens, and last one is Demonstrate personal wellness. In the real world SLO is very important; u might not need to learn all of them, but at least most, RVC knows that’s important for the real world, career and life we as student choose. Upon completion of the RVC, we as students should be able to recognize and understand SLO and master it. What is SLO?
Gatto is saying that schooling is made for kids to adapt to; it has adaptive qualities, therefore there is a chance for everyone to succeed if they really want to, but it takes away from any individual thinking. Conforming is another evil of school because it makes us forced to learn things we really have no interest in and as Gatto states “its intention is to make children as alike as possible”(153). A lot of students use this excuse while they are in high school “when am I ever going to use this again in life” ill be honest I have said it before but I don't necessarily agree with these students because you need to build a base education before you figure out what you want your schooling to focus on. Kids change their minds everyday, I realized that I’m not quite sure I want to be an art major anymore, even being in the first couple of classes I knew it wasn’t for me
I just do not understand why the main focus of our education has to be all about test. I feel as if my classmates and I were like lab rats, being used for discovery and research, just so the school can gain recognition and reap the rewards for producing good test scores. Many districts use strict curricula’s that publishing companies produce to “promise” outstanding grades if you buy their products and complete them all. When you try to force that on the teachers, it is frustrating to them because they have the freedom of teaching taken away from them and are given a set of rules to produce better test results. Because many teachers and other educators are being forced to move away from teaching in their own preferred style, they must follow a set pace so that their instruction to the students is to what the district mandates instead of responding to the students need.

Some teachers debated that when art has a purpose or a function it takes away expressionism, and art is no longer an artist expressing themselves. On the other hand some embraced this change; they feared that computers with their fancy technology, pieces of art could easily be mass produced, losing the individualism. With programmes like Photoshop people could easily edit images to hide any flaws, enhance and refine, this removes the chance of feelings, emotion and happy
Our company’s principles say that we will treat employees like family, so time has come to deliver on that promise. Donco hopes every employee takes advantage of the TAP to further his or her education. Attainment of higher education degrees will allow our workforce to steadily progress into management positions. A degree can open doors for individuals to achieve life-long dreams or aspirations. Donco has not lost an employee who chooses to chase a dream, quite the opposite; our company is better and stronger for caring.
One reason a student should receive extra credit to pass, is that they have trouble with that one specific subject. If you don’t understand something it’s hard to get it right on a test. Many tutoring services arn’t free, and some families don’t have the extra cash laying around. Some students after seeing there failing grade just completely give up. Teachers should give them extra credit they can still have a chance at passing the class.
There are so many intricacies involved in the process; nevertheless, people are the most important element in creating justice for all, regardless of social status, color of skin, English language barriers, and cultural background (Theoharis, 2009). My major focus as a SJL is to empower and cultivate in my DACC colleagues in the advising center a passion for our students. A deep understanding of our students needs is essential in order to cooperate, and work together with a heartfelt passion to build a strong community college that practices equity and accessibility. By building strong relationships with our students and their families we can create a climate of belonging. This framework was provided in chapter I by Theoharis (2009), and is essential in sifting out bad practices, attitudes, established rules and guidelines, racism, and discrimination.
This allows for a more focused eye on subjects that will be on standardized tests like math and reading. This actually causes a less well-rounded education since teachers have to start teaching to the test. Teaching to test does not cause smarter kids, but instead causes kids to memorize certain parts of a subject while leaving out other subjects like music and art which induce creativity and independence of oneself. So instead of standardized testing, schools should make sure students have a more rounded education which will actually make the kids smarter than when drilling them for standardized tests.
