Equality also means being equal no matter what you race, gender, age, disability, religion, cultural differences and sexual orientation. By eliminating prejudice and discrimination we can deliver a service that is fair and personal to the individuals which promotes a happy environment were the residents feel safe to be themselves no matter what. Inclusion is a sense of belonging, feeling included, respected, valued for who you are, feeling a level of support from those around you. There are two main models of practice underpinning equality and diversity. Inclusion, the equal opportunities model and the difference and diversity model.
The six pillars of characteristics are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Trustworthiness is being honest and loyal to your family, friends, and your country. Respect is being tolerant and accepting differences of others. Responsibility is being accountable for your actions, words, and attitude. Fairness is being open minded and giving everyone an equal chance.
QCF Level 3 Health and Social Care David Mano CU2479 Promote Good Practice in Handling Information in Health and Social Care Settings Outcome 1 1.1 The current legislation tells us that we have to keep records and information safe and up-to-date at all times. Different companies keep various pieces of information. Different information is handled in different ways. We must follow the company policies and procedures about how to handle certain types of information, the policy will follow the guidelines as set out in the Data Protection Act 1998. As a carer we have the responsibility to make a record of the entire task that we perform in a clear way so that the information can be safely transmitted to the other carers and to the management.
As a member there are certain criteria and professional standards that we must uphold. CPAs have auditing and assurance standards that must be followed to ensure valid and accurate information from company to company. Pronouncements are often issued to keep all CPAs informed on industry changes. Compilation and review standards provide the same value as auditing standards, to ensure services are provided in a similar fashion by all CPAs. Other attestation standards include specific guidance on other attestation services, again to ensure each CPA practices applicable accounting procedures.
Diversity is about recognising and valuing everyone’s culture, personality, age, race, sex, disability, gender, religion and beliefs. * Equality – treating people in a way that is appropriate for their needs. Making sure people are treated fairly and given fair chances. Recognise their needs and that they are met in different ways. * Inclusion – equal opportunities for everyone whatever their age, gender, ethnicity, to be included.
Sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, religion, belief, or age. Health and social care services should meet the needs of people from all backgrounds. You should not be treated less favourably than anyone else because of your religion or belief, or because you have no religion or belief. This is why equality is very important in relation to health and social care, everybody is equal in value. This goes both ways for the patient and the health proffesional.
People sharing a culture are looking at the same Values to make choices about how to live. In the United States we hold Key Values to our way of life, One being Freedom. We have always been told that we are free to be whom ever we choose to be and pursue personal goals. Through out my life I have carried my Beliefs as well as Values which have been both in conflict and harmony with other peoples culturally defined standards and Beliefs on their guidelines of living. Members in society say that they believe in Equality and Opportunity for all yet many are looked down on because of race or sexual orientation, I have coexisted with both.
Equality is not about treating everybody in exactly the same way. Equality is also about recognising the importance of treating each person as an individual and making sure that their needs are met in a variety of ways. Equality is based on four principles; fairness, respect, honesty and providing opportunities. 1.1c- Inclusion Inclusion means the action or state of being included within a group or structure. It is about positively striving to meet the needs of different individuals and taking action to create environments where everybody feels respected and able to achieve their full potential.
It is important that culture diversity is not lost but yet is advocates for its uniqueness instead of stereotyping one another. It I important to say we are all one and should live as such to keep harmony in our
Hazel Markus and Shinobu Kitayama (1991) observed in a study that the culture in the North America values an identity that is focused on individual motivations, attributes and goals. A sense of self-reliance and independence are considered normal and desirable. Markus and Kitayama (1995) further noticed that most Asians cultures emphasize and identity that is based on conforming to the ideals of the community, religion and family. The importance of collective efforts and association with a group are instilled in Asian cultures. The Japanese and Chinese cultures encourage children to value and cherish collective honors through group work and to be modest about their personal distinctions (Kitayama & Markus, 1992).
