Dear Larry Lancaster: As an auditor of Anderson, Olds, and Watershed (AOW) I understand that Apollo Shoes, Inc. has shown phenomenal growth since operations first initiated and a strong concern for the need of external auditing and assurance services. When using AOW, Apollo Shoes not only receive my services, but I will also be assisted by several of AOWs best staff, including a tax specialist and an information systems auditor. Possessing such a diverse team allows us to provide expertise in many beneficial areas. There have been potential concerns of a labor strike and financial difficulties for one of your biggest customers. As a member there are certain criteria and professional standards that we must uphold. CPAs have auditing and assurance standards that must be followed to ensure valid and accurate information from company to company. Pronouncements are often issued to keep all CPAs informed on industry changes. Compilation and review standards provide the same value as auditing standards, to ensure services are provided in a similar fashion by all CPAs. Other attestation standards include specific guidance on other attestation services, again to ensure each CPA practices applicable accounting procedures. The final standard that leads as most important is the Code of Professional Conduct. The Code of Conduct dictates ethical conduct and asserts that all practicing CPAs will act ethically and follow all three former standards and rules.
