Khanthary Singnhoth Case Study Week 1 March 22, 2015 HRMG 5800 Tanglewood has developed into a chain with quality products for their customers. If they are to succeed more they must staff their stores with productive, skilled, and knowledgeable employees. Therefore, a KSAO would be perfect to staff the locations accordingly. If the company needed to staff for the retail stores then would benefit from using a KSAO to help select candidates who are appropriate for that position. To work in the retail location the employees should be knowledgeable on the goods sold, have great customer service skills, and have the ability to sell the product exceptionally well. Generally, exceptional or acceptable workforce quality is referring to how exceptional is the employees work and is their work behavior acceptable. Mueller, mentions in the text, “best and the brightest” which he is referring to the talent pool that the company is selecting from. The text also mentions that the acceptable strategy means the pursuit of a less high-powered workforce (31). Translated this means that they are not going to search for a highly educated person if production only requires those who are physically fit and capable of producing quality products quickly. Active or passive diversity is referring to the demographics of the area for which the labor is needed. The company should be actively open to pursue the diversity in the area to fill their workforce because generally those who are of a different ethnicity or nationality would be willing to work for a much lower wage than those who are more educated or more experienced. However the text states that a more passive approach would be better since an active one would require more time and substantial planning and assimilation activity to do so
