Jorge Hernandez M. Macdonald ENG091 December 3, 2011 Holding Down a Part-time Job When going to school, often times the questions comes up whether students should try to hold down a part-time job. To determine this, I have to look at the benefits versus the downfalls and find a balance. As most high school students school is their job, but in my case I decided to take a step further and work in part-time job. In my experience as going to school and working at a part-time job I became a more responsible person. Likewise, working at a part-time has developed a greater experience in my life. Lastly, having a part-time job I could be earning money for stuff I may need and not depend in my parents so much. I believe that a high school student should be able to work at a part-time job. Working at a part-time job, the responsibility will definitely reflect immediately. For example, now I have the responsibility to be able to manage my time wisely. Today, having the freedom to say, “I’ll do the homework later” rarely will happen because later on I will not have the time to do the homework. Moving forward, a part-time job has educated me in the importance of being on time and showing up for work each day. It has helped me understand that if I do not show up there will be a punishment. Lastly, it has also helped me to understand that if I do come in on time, and do an excellent job I could be rewarded. In addition, having a part-time job will make me a more responsible person. A greater experience in life will result because of a part-time job. For example, it has provided me with help in what I really want in life. Likewise, for sure I do not want to be part of this part-time job for my whole life, and it has made me to pursue my ideal career.
