Reflection History We discussed some pretty thought provoking topics, and innovative ideas throughout our reading. Marks made predictions about our society based on the past events of history. Garbage Land introduced the concept of “Zero Waste” a philosophy of eliminating trash, and recycling and bettering the world around us. Lastly, Oil On The Brain pushed the fact that society does not have much oil to rely on left, and the time for a fuel alternative is now. The idea that really inspired me was the concept of “Zero Waste”, I love the philosophy behind that. It encourages the innovation of products to create a continuous life cycle, almost like a reincarnation of household products.Thus eliminating trash, giving the empty soda bottle hope, and a possibly a new use. In nature there is a similar process to which products are re-used, so why not incorporate this process into our everyday lives?. Over all Zero Waste is an ethical, economical, efficient and visionary goal. I can only hope that people will by motivated to change their live styles and focus on sustainability and the environment around them. Zero Waste means redesigning and producing newly innovated products. It also means establishing a processes to eliminate the high levels of toxic chemicals and toxicity of waste and materials. The point is to conserve and reuse every resource, instead of burning or burying them. I think that this is something I could accomplish, maybe not today, tomorrow or this month but over my lifetime. Zero Waste is a hard but doable practice, and it can be accomplished. One of my favorite quotes is “The goal is not to live forever, but to create something that will”. I want our generation to be remembered as the “Zero waster’s”. I’m proud of my used vintage clothes, the hybrid car I drive and the tofu I eat. I’m not trying to sound so stereotypical or making a
