Corll was born on 24 December 1939 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Corll grew up in a combative home and with his parents quarreling constantly. They were divorced while Corll was still an infant, and then remarried after World War II, but Dean's father provided no stabilizing influence, regarding his children with thinly-veiled distaste, resorting to harsh punishment for the smallest infractions. When the couple separated a second time, Corll and his younger brother were left with a series of sitters and leaving their mother to work to support the family on her own. Rheumatic fever left Dean with a heart condition, resulting in frequent absence from school, and he seemed to welcome the change when his mother remarried, moving the family to Texas.
Scars were left on Joseph Stalin’s face after he suffered severe smallpox at age seven. He was bullied for it and was born into poverty while his mom was a maid, and his father an alcoholic. Being feared by his people and many others of the world was one of the Machiavellian traits that Stalin obtained. He appeared unable to feel pity and could not take criticism. Also, he never forgave an opponent.
Marc Jacobs is best known for his eponymous label Marc Jacobs, his diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs and his 16-years tenure at Louis Vuitton as creative director. Early years Born April 9, 1963, in New York City, Jacobs' home life was turned upside-down at the age of 7, when his father, an agent at the William Morris agency, died from ulcerative colitis—a condition that Marc also suffered from. According to Jacobs, his mother was “mentally ill” and “didn’t really take care of her kids”(Levy). She responded poorly to his father's death, embarking on a life of power dating and failed marriages that caused serious upheaval in the family. With each remarriage, Jacobs and his siblings would be forced to relocate to a new home, bouncing from New Jersey to Long Island and then the Bronx.
For instance, during the “Week of Peace” Okonkwo came home to find that his second wife had not returned from her friend’s house in time to cook dinner. “When she returned he beat her very heavily. In his anger he had forgotten that it was the Week of Peace” (Achebe29). Beating your wife during the Week of Peace was a huge sin to the clan. Okonkwo let his anger get the best of him and violated the code of the Ibo people.
Give or take one of those qualities or two. But just when I start to forget and think of men as good people, I see something or learn something or am reminded of some of the horrible things that have happened under mans control and I am disgusted once again. Think of all of the horrible men in history who have held positions of power such as Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, and George Bush, only to name a few. Look at all of the insane things that occurred under their rule, all of this pointless murder, war, torture, and all for what reason? Was it all for power?
It is shown by how Carton and Darnay acts when Carton asks Darnay to dinner. Carton gets drunk and starts badgering Darnay about how his life sucks and that everyone hates him and that he hates himself. Darnay sits quietly and tries to defend that Carton should not hate himself very politely. This behavior from Carton finally makes Darnay angry enough to leave so Darnay excuses himself very gentlemanlike. This shows that Darnay and Carton are clearly different.
