I believe that we are taking it too far by blaming fast food restaurants for obesity and that it is an individual’s responsibility to take the blame. The first fast food restaurants developed in America in the 1920’s and the United States has grown to have the largest fast food industry in the world. Currently one third of American children are obese or at risk of becoming obese and 67% of Americans are obese. McDonald’s was invented in the 1940’s and has since acquired millions of lawsuits for their extremely unhealthy food. Burger King soon followed in the 50’s and has also received its fair share of lawsuits.
The formula for meats is a little more difficult to remember than the formula for veggies. Most customers get confused with the BMT and the Spicy sandwiches and mix up the formulas. The BMT footlong has six pieces of
Although they may seem the same to some, they are both different in appearance, size, taste, smell, and health. McDonald’s burgers have nine grams of fat, and Burger King’s burgers have 12 grams of fat. McDonald’s claims their food will always be hot, they concentrate more on the quality of the service than with the speed of getting the order out quickly. Burger King gives more choices from their menu when they are waiting on the customer and also provide quicker service. McDonald’s burgers are lighter than Burger Kings, and weigh only 100 grams, whereas Burger Kings weigh 120 grams.
Burgers, French fries, sodas, milkshakes, ice cream, etc are just an example of the wide menu McDonald’s has to offer the consumer making it easy for them to order a highly caloric meal. This can lead to serious health problems like Obesity, heart problems, diabetes and even different types of cancer in the long run. Obesity: According to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, between 16 and 33 percent of teenagers in the United States are obese. Teenagers are considered obese when they are 20 percent or more above the normal weight for their age and height. Obesity is caused by eating more calories than the body burns.
People say that it is Mcdonalds fault for them gaining weight, but what they don’t understand is that they have the choice wether they should eat it or not, or even how much they eat. They have control over wether they should go and pick out a nice healthy salad or go to a fast food restaurant such as Mcdonalds and get fatty food there that is super-sized, and get french fries that are all salty. So I say it is not Mcdonalds fault for people becoming obese and overweight all over the country! it is their own fault that they are gaining this much weight in such little time. Mcdonalds is a very popular restaurant where they advertise food all over the place on billboards in stores, on the
Burger King VS McDonald’s Burger King and McDonald’s are both fast food restaurants that provide customers with an easy drive thru window. When families have very little time to prepare a cooked meal at home, they most often opt for a fast food drive thru. Hitting up the drive thru at Burger King or McDonald’s, makes life just a little easier for the family on the run. People choose these types of places mostly for their fast pace, not for the quality of the food they receive. Also, because places such as Burger King and McDonald’s cost less than a fancy dining place, they feel they are getting a big bang for their buck.
Unlike many additives, aspartame consists of two naturally occurring compounds, although in a way nature never intended. The consumption of sugar and other caloric sweeteners has increased 20% in the U.S. since 1983. Though more people are avoiding table sugar (sucrose) they don't realize how much sugar they consume in the form of dextrose and high fructose corn syrup, which manufacturers add to a wide range of packaged foods. Many such foods aren't thought of as sweet: added sugars show up in soup, pasta, sauce, condiments, frozen dinners and bread. Research is inconclusive about whether artificial sweeteners, which can be hundreds of times sweeter than sugar, encourage a sweet tooth.
Abstract In the US today many Americans consume snack bars or meal replacement bars. Major concerns about these bars are many of them do not have optimal nutrition benefits. In comparison to these bars that are produced by major manufacturers the fiber snack bars that were produced in this experiment aimed to increase fiber and provided better sensory acceptability and overall acceptance. The purpose of this experiment was to use natural ingredients and provide the benefit of a good source of fiber, as well as being gluten free. Introduction With most consumers trying to be more health conscious about their food choices, all natural products are beginning to be found more commonly in grocery stores.
On the consumers side they have plenty of arguments. For example, they say we do not know how much enough is. We cannot know how many calories are in each item. Like Zinczenko said, “There are no calorie information charts on fast-food packaging the way there are on grocery items” (7). Another example is that fast food is unhealthy, how would we suppose to know this.
McDonalds opened its doors in 1940, 13 years later so did there soon to be competitor, Burger King. Both of them compete every day to earn the most profit possible. These restaurants may be some of the largest fast food corporations in the country, but they have plenty of differences; taste, sales, advertising. Taste is a big part of the competition. McDonalds and Burger King may not be good for you, but to most people it tastes good.
