“Professional Courtesy in Policing" Ethics, or moral conduct, are of major importance in the Criminal Justice Field. If the police force condoned unethical behavior, there would be very little, if any, justice being served. But what is unethical behavior and how do we judge moral conduct? Just as we all see this world through different eyes, we come to decisions through different life experiences. Due to the uniquely stressful work environment, Law Enforcement have created an occupational subculture with its own informal code of ethics.
Economic Goals of Business and Government VS Social Goals of Consumers Milton Friedman suggests that the social responsibility of a business is to increase its profits (Boardman, Sandomir and Sondak 221). While increasing profits is certainly one of the most important factors in a successful business, is it considered a social responsibility, or better yet, the only social responsibility of a corporation? Friedman seems to think so. But why is increasing profits a corporation’s social responsibility? According to Friedman, “A corporate executive is an employee of the owners of the business.

The concept of ‘broken windows’ is appealing to police departments attempting to reduce crime and restore order in their communities. From a police perspective, not only can order maintenance assist in meeting citizen demands for a government response to disorderly conditions, but it can also help in potentially deterring more serious crime from occurring. Several studies have found an association between order maintenance policing and crime reduction. Corman and Mocan (2002) determined that minor offense enforcement was linked to the reduction in serious crime in New York City.
These goals are accomplished using tangible countermeasures ranging from fencing and lighting to electronic surveillance equipment and carefully defined policies and procedures. The basic concept of physical security is to create barriers or obstacles that will protect people, their assets, and the environment. While people are not always the threats that businesses fear, natural disasters are a big part of their problems depending on the areas they live in. Physical security can’t prevent everything but creating protocols and ways to back up systems or to create a way for these businesses to rebuild without completely losing their business is a way to protect. To be prepared for anything is hard to do but with research and good instincts a business could be and feel safe from manmade and natural disasters.
Therefore the FBI information Sharing and Safeguard Strategy helps to keep the government balanced by safeguarding the civil liberties and privacy of the citizens and shielding our methods and sources. For this very reason, the FBI waits for all criminals and activities to be accurately identified and verified before they share information with other agencies. By taking this approach, it gives the FBI greater visibility in combating terrorism, decreasing crime, and produce a pool of knowledge and societal progress. The FBI has a dual mission to protect national security and enforce federal laws. In fulfilling its mission, the FBI continues to fuse the requirements of the domestic and foreign Intelligence and Law Enforcement Communities to meet the changing national security threats.
Criminal justice professionals play an important role in the court system, and if they lie on accusations and evidence, the innocent become victims of the dishonesty. A second quality that is good to see in the criminal justice professions is to be objective. It is important for our law enforcement and public servants to not let their personal goals, feelings, or prejudice to get in the way of the criminal justice goals. Objectivity ensures that the professionals will make the right choices even when they have reasons that should make them choose otherwise. A simple example of this trait could be a law enforcement officer writing a ticket to someone regardless of the relationship they may or may not have.
First of all prison system provides the Vocational education training (VET) which helps in gaining the employment in future and therefore likely to work in the civilized society and less likely to reoffend (Weatherburn, 2004). Secondly imprisonment system also focuses on cognitive behaviour therapy which changes the offender attitude, belief and thinking patterns (Howells and Day, 1999). And finally physical activities like exercise affect the physical and mental health of the individual in positive way (Nelson, Specian, Tracy, and Demelto, 2006). Such types programs seem to make prisoners law abiding citizen and prevent committing further crime in the society. The vocational educational and training (VET) is one of the important rehabilitative program because it aims towards providing necessary skills to the prisoners.
Police Brutality In recent years, police actions, particularly police abuse, has come into view of a wide, public and critical eye. While citizens worry about protecting themselves from criminals, it has now been shown that they must also keep a watchful eye on those who are supposed to protect and serve. This paper will discuss the types of police abuse prevalent today, including the use of firearms and receipt of private information. I will also discuss what and how citizens' rights are taken advantage of by police. For these problems, solutions will be discussed, focusing on political reform, education, and citizen review boards.
A code of ethics supplied by a business is a specific kind of policy statement. A properly outlined code is, in effect, a form of legislation within the company required by its employees, with specific agreements for violation of the code.
