My First Job Getting my first job was as a big change in my life. I was able to acquire new skills and improve others. It has helped me be more responsible, organized, and it has giving me the ability to manage my time. I had just turned 17; I was a junior at Manatee High School. One of my friends was working at McDonald’s. He told me that they were hiring and that if I wanted a job he could refer me to his Manager. I accepted his offer so I applied online. A week later, I had a job interview at that McDonald’s. I was pretty much hired already. All I had to do was fill out some papers and get schedule for orientation. Orientation was for three days. The first day, they introduced me to McDonald’s. The training Manager talked about how McDonald’s started and who was the founder. During the second day of training, I had to watch videos about the different products McDonald’s offer. In addition, they showed me videos about every tasks and duties that I would have to perform once I start working at the restaurant. The last day of orientation, I basically just had to be at the restaurant to see how things get done. It was more like hands on training. Overall, everything was pretty interesting. After I was done with orientation, I was ready to start working. My first day was on a Saturday. Saturdays are almost, always busy. That day I was assigned on fries. All I had to do was have the fries ready for the orders that were coming in. I had to do fries for two days, and then I was assigned and trained in other stations. By the end of the first week, I was able to do pretty much everything by myself without help. Everyone was nice and willing to help. After I graduated from high school, I received an offer to become a manager in the store and I accepted.
