Fast Food is Injurious to Our Health Fast food was never made to be healthy. In fact, its purpose was to prepare and serve food very quickly. Reasons we prefer fast food is, firstly, it is definitely cheaper, especially for people who live on their own. In today’s world, with more people spending more time at work than at home, consuming a healthy 'homemade' meal on a regular basis becomes very difficult. With time passing by quickly, fast food seems to be the most quick, easy, cheap and irresistible food to eat up. Fast food on the other hand comes at a lower price than home cooked meals which helps people save up their money for rent for instance. Even though the main disadvantages of fast food are health related, people on a diet can also find good options in the menu of most fast food restaurants. There are salads, grilled chicken, wraps, fruits and whole wheat breads. Some fried products also have boiled alternatives. When it comes to drinks, you can skip the sugary ones and go for fresh juices or low fat milk. People can also customise their orders and exclude unhealthy ingredients like mayonnaise for instance. Rebuttals -Frozen meals can come additive-free and be available as healthier options. There are more and more healthy options available on fast food menus for health conscious consumers to choose from. -This is a problem of responsibility. If people go out and eat three cheese burgers you cannot blame the people supplying the burgers for their illness. If people choose to eat it in huge amounts, it's their problem.
