Communication is Key Humans are interactive beings. An essential part of being human being is the ability to express emotions, feelings, thoughts and ideas with others. One of the best methods for humans to do this is to communicate with others. This however is not just restricted to talking the action of communicating with others involves more than just the spoken word. “Communication is a lot more than simply speaking your mind. In addition to spoken words, communication also extends to tone, volume, expression, eye contact, body language and effective listening” (http://www.zenfamilyhabits.net/2010/02/top-10-essential-family-values/). Communication is key to having healthy relationships with others and living a respectable lifestyle. This concept is no different and arguably even more crucial when applied as a family value. Good communication provides the foundation for having a strong, effective family life. The role of communication in building and maintaining a strong family is crucial because it creates a positive and safe environment, unites and bonds the family together and strengthens relationships within the family. Inside the family is the place every human should be able to feel comfortable and at peace, unfortunately in many circumstances this is not the case. Families find there are multiple reasons that can prohibit or influence the capability to provide a safe and positive environment for all members in a family. One of the most common reasons for this is the lack of good communication. Good communication creates a healthy environment for all members to express themselves, limiting intimidation and offering a comfortable state of acceptance with the people around you. A person’s family should be the first place where any member can communicate their feelings, emotions, thoughts and ideas without fearing lack of respect or being criticized. Yet
