Are Extreme Sports Too Dangerous? Extreme Sports have become increasingly popular throughout the last couple years. Sadly injuries due to Extreme Sports have also increased. Organizations involved with these extreme sports like UFC and X Games should become stricter and limit the amount of risk people are allowed to take in order to prevent fatal injuries, to promote safety of the players, and to better regulate the competitions. Extreme sports also called action sports and adventure sports are a media term for certain activities perceived as having a high level of inherent danger. These activities often involve speed, height, high level of physical exertion, highly specialized gear or spectacular stunts. Some examples of extreme sports are BASE jumping, skateboarding, BMX, Motocross, mountain and ice-climbing, sky surfing, street luge, and adventure racing. Most of these are newer versions of “old school” sports made possible by technological advancements. For example, BMX came from the simple sport of cycling made dangerous; skiboarding came from snowboarding and skateboarding came from the sport inline skating, which has drastically changed those three sports. For the most part, extreme sports originated as recreational activity for daring individuals, usually in-group content, but made for individuals to show off their own personal skills, to see if anyone else can match what they did or even do what they did better than them. One of the most dangerous types of extreme sports is UFC. UFC stands for ultimate fighting competition. This sport is a U.S. based mixed martial arts sport that was created in 1993 with the question “Can a wrestler beat a boxer?” (Gracie). Some questioned the ethics and values of this sport since it becomes very bloody very fast. The athletes are allowed to do virtually anything to beat its competitor. “It’s basically street fighting
