If we place a "special" label on certain types of murder, rape or vandalism we are not preventing the hate that is the motive for such crimes. This is not the true goal of society. Helen Dodge makes a compelling argument to shun the members of such hateful communities in her article "Special Crimes Need Special Laws", when she says that the public should band together against such forces (Dodge 140). Military and Public Safety protect our everyday lives, while Teachers are the ones that give us the knowledge we need for everyday life. Military personnel definitely are the most heroic figure in my eyes. While people are here in American living the good life, we have soldiers fighting for our freedom, putting their lives on the line. Having two years in the National Guard, I have not had a chance yet at deployment. However, at all times I stand ready to accept the fact that I could receive that phone call telling me to pack my bags, I am being deployed.
One of the most ethical controversial issues being debated now in United States is whether late- term abortion should be banned or not. Most people argued that it is proper to ban late-term abortion. They believe that it is un-ethical and a murder of an unborn child not a right of freedom of choice. It is an immoral act and violates the social and religious norms. On the other hand some people argued that late-term abortion should not be banned because it is necessary to terminate a fetus when the life of the woman is in danger as a result of complicated pregnancy; or when pregnancy result from incest or rape and the woman may be late in finding out that she is pregnant.
Though some may disagree on this point, the fact is that legalized abortion is the only option that will protect the lives of American citizens. One only needs to look into American history to see the results of prohibiting abortions to women. The process of abortions has definitely come a long way. Even after abortion was legalized, women were still very afraid to go to the abortion facilities because they were afraid of being attached just for entering the building. It is better now that they have a place to go where abortions can be performed cleanly and with minimal risk.
