Should the federal government maintain the social safety net for all of its citizens? One in seven Americans receive food stamps, a number that's up sharply since the financial crisis. Most experts agree unemployment and underemployment have contributed to the number of people in need of food assistance. The government should stop expanding food stamps because of many reasons which are people are so dependent on the government, there is a lot of fraud that goes on while receiving food stamps, and that the government is spending way too much money on the poor while other things can help them get back on their feet. Some people may argue that access to food stamps is essential for needy families.
Even then, those applicants must wait as long as a year before they may even receive any assistance. This is due to the large number of applicants and also due to the low-income population in Berks County. I feel that the waiting lists for housing assistance should be re-opened. If these programs offer and build more public housing developments in Berks County, it will help many families that need help with housing. This will eliminate longs waiting lists.
Poverty grows exponentially; the more people within a family the greater the chance of falling even further below the poverty line. Many of those that aren't education don't have the means to understand the practices of safe sex and many people who aren't able to take care of themselves are finding themselves with babies that they too cannot take care of. Second we need to help these poor countries by promoting a need for charity, a need for involvement from those that are better off, and a need for organizations that can support these people in need. Partnerships are so important in change and there are a lot of people out there than can financially provide these partnerships. Hold food drives, since so many of these people are starving and can't afford food.
One disadvantage is that they set the rules. If you are late picking up your child you can be charged a per minute late fee. What happens if your child is sick? They cannot go to daycare and an alternative must be found and that usually happens very quickly and you need to have someone available at the drop of a hat to watch them. If you have a job that requires that you work on holidays then you must find another source of childcare because the center is closed on all major holidays.
The policy covered just the remaining amount owed to the property. The family would save their money, plant vegetable gardens, and did whatever work they could to pay for the cost of what they could not grow, or make for themselves. This is how the government with its consistent, relentless propaganda got the America people behind the “Social Security Act.” They understood how insurance worked, and what the benefits would be by having a policy. The Social Security program was designed in a way that people would pay into the system for many years, but would not live long enough to collect the full benefits. Most men only lived until 58 years for age, and most women only lived to 62 years of age, back in the thirties.
The adoption process is becoming more and more common for couples unable to have children. As the process is becoming more popular, the process to receive a child is becoming much more difficult. Each set of potential parents are risking a lot—grueling application processes, huge expenses, time, and after all possibly heart break. Most would agree that it is very important for this process to be extensive, after all each of these children were most likely given up in order for them to have a better life. According to the Foster Care Adoption website, as of 2005, there were 514,000 children in foster care and the number grows each year (Brannagan).
To understand the post-divorce family you must begin with the consequences it has on family, but for many reasons America’s greatest concern is that of the children. Children are not responsible, but yet reap all of the emotional pains of a divorce. Amato and Thompson (1999) informs us that: The increased expenses and lowered living standards following divorce may create many more specific pressures for children. The family may have to move to a less expensive house or apartment; children may have to change schools; contact with friends in a neighborhood or school may be lost as a result of these changes; the residential parent may have to begin working or work longer hours; children may have to be placed in child
Explain what is meant by the term compensatory education Compensatory education are government educational policies such as operation head start in the USA that seek to tackle the problem of under achievement by providing extra support and funding to schools and families in deprived areas. Suggest three material factors that might cause working class educational under achievement. Poor housing can affect pupils underachievement for example overcrowding can have a direct effect making it hard for them to study as there is nowhere to do the homework or disturbed sleep from sharing bedrooms. Diet and health can affect pupils under achievement as Marilyn Howard 2001 notes that young people from poorer homes have lower intakes of energy, vitamins and minerals. Poor nutrition affects health which will lower children’s energy levels.
Students might want to drop out because they are struggling in school, getting bullied, have a health issue, have personal family problems, or just have a planned out future that doesn't require a high school diploma. Making teens do something they absolutely don't want to do, especially after they are 16, can result in even worse outcomes. “Efforts to raise the age usually come up against the argument that requiring students to stay in school when they no longer want to be there is disruptive to the other students and not fair to the teacher”. Thats a very knowledgeable statement because its true that when teens want to drop out, they want to drop out before they are 18, so they are most likely going to be careless and disrespectful at school. Some teens have personal reasons that are sometimes urgent, and staying in school isn't an option.
For the government, it might appear to be a necessity and they may feel they are compensating the affected people well by remuneration. However, the affected people know that they are being uprooted from their homeland. Although temporarily better off, they have lost the place they called home once. We can see this Theory being manifested in lot of circumstances, if only we observe and try to understand. Right from a student getting bad grades as a result of a submission they couldn’t complete due to being unwell, to the difficult situations faced by a single mother in this society.
