1. What are the causes of EMC’s problems? -First, in the meeting in which the Senior vice president of operations James Cassals debates with the other managers from the plants I can notice some existing communication difficulties, which appear to be brought in the center of this meeting. By pointing the existing problems which are following the company in the latest period of time, it is to be stated that this company needed the meeting. 2. Which plant seems to has the lowest production costs per product type and per micro-operation (production sequence)? -This would be the plant in Georgetown, which is responsible for making blenders, which are made cheaper here than anyone and anywhere else. Also there is great capacity here for making their own motors which would be more economical, and will cut down the expenses considered for delivery. 3. How should the EMC’s multi-plant network should be organized? - In my opinion this type of meetings are very welcomed for this type of company. The communication is very important in one manufacturing company, especially when there are quantity of plants spread around. Maybe always scheduled meetings in which only head of the management would be responsible to share certain by him very important facts and highlight the current problems that affect one plant separately is a good way to go. By this, the importance of his dedication of problem solving and accuracy with the performance of the plant he/she is responsible for will rise to a certain level in which he is highly conscious of the wellbeing of the plant and also always on track with the performance of his plant compared to the others. By organizing the plants which use less cost for manufacturing different product, and making strategic decisions in which every segment of the workforce is used and managed well, this company can perform better.
