My biggest weakness is an unwillingness to accept my limitations. For example, I often take on too many responsibilities and find myself not being able to do as well as I could in any of them given how overstretched I am. I also have a lot of impatience when it comes to improving things such as how we deliver higher education and need to be willing to accept how slow change can be. Why have you selected psychology as a profession? I did not choose it as a profession as my graduate work is in Higher Education but I like to study psychology in my free time as I think a lot of principles of the field can be applied to making better public policy and improving human
These p-plate laws are affective in reducing accidents on the road, because they reduce p-plate drivers to a low speed as well as slow cars. Peer pressure is another important factor which can cause accidents on the road. The current laws help to reduce peer pressure, by not allowing p-plate drivers under the age of 25 no more than one passenger at a time under the age of 21 between the hours of 11pm and 5am. This p-plate law helps in reducing peer pressure related accidents, because it stops overcrowded cars and distractions from friends, which allows the driver to focus only on the road. Firstly, many students and adults do not know enough about managing their finances which is why they tend to get in to debt. If financial literacy is taught in high then they will not have problem managing their finances because they will have that knowledge. According to the studies almost eighty percent of the people in dept are in dept because they do not make a financial plan as they were never taught to. These people lack the financial literacy skills. This is why teaching financial literacy in high school will benefit the students later in their life.
In Patrick O’Malley’s essay “More Testing, More Learning”, he claims that the only way to improve students’ learning is frequently test. Malley knows that many college professors only use midterms and finals to judging students abilities. As a result, many students feel stressful about the test, and they fail the test. So Malley proposes that professors need to give more frequent brief exams. In this way, students would learn more efficiently, study more regularly, and have less anxiety.
It is hard to focus and my study methods are vastly differed from those of an average college student. I am an aspiring student but struggles with focusing in on main projects as I want to ramble in a different direction. In order to get past this I must get in to a routine that requires a type of consistency in my studies. In the same way, Malcolm X had to learn to enhance his education he had to study consistently all day and every free moment in his day. I have to do the same in order to become a successful student.
Say Hello to my Little Study Buddy Most adults will arguably tell someone college is ‘the time of your life’ but what they forget to mention is the hardships and stresses it actually brings. There is a whole new curriculum, much harder than a high school one, and for most people their first time living on their own. One must learn more material in a shorter length of time from difficult assignments that will require a majority of one’s leisure time. The harsh reality is that students without parental supervision will unfortunately want to waste their free time doing more entertaining things than cramming their brains with gratuitous amount of new statistics, formulas and information. Reflections of US/101 Amy Kelley US/101 Professor Eric Wright Reflections of US/101 When I think back over this class I have received a greater knowledge base on several different things but out of all of them there are a few that really stuck with me and will drive me to seek more information and ideas. The few that have made the most impact are time and stress management, integrity and ethics, and goal settings. When I think about time and stress management I find that I have always fallen short because I have always tried to do everything and there are a time when that is just not possible. After taking this class I can see how my stress level has been high and have found a few ways to reduce my stress as well as find time
So many want the education but can’t afford the costs of regular college so they go to option B. There are lots of new courses being offered online that this may just really what we may be looking at for future learning. Sometimes the classes can be bland and boring with low quality lecture videos, but if you can get through that this type of learning might just be good for you. 3 in 10 students at colleges are at least taking 1 online course. So you can see that people are really finding it helpful for them.
Welsh’s article discusses the difference between American students and Asian students. The Asian students identified that their biggest factor behind academic success was “studying hard”. I believe that many American students have lost their internal drive and motivation to study hard, including myself, with technology now and it being so easy to cheat it becomes almost unnecessary. Insufficient teaching is not the major factor to blame nor is poor study skills or the lack of there of. I believe that the problem behind American students not studying is solely due to the lack of determination to study and excel in schoolwork.
