The DJ has the most important role in the founding of Hip Hop. Block parties were very popular in the Bronx and the DJ was always at the center. The MC was just a hype man for the DJ. I think this is interesting because now the MC is at the forefront. To me the DJ played an even more instrumental part in that he helped to unify people.

And Hip Hop music has grown exponentially in a short span of time. Everybody knows the hip hop moguls of the nineties such as; Biggies Smalls, Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre, Jay Z, and Snoop Dogg, but who were the pioneers? What certain crowds of society did this new style of music impact and draw in?
In 2007 Time Magazine called Rick Rubin one of the 100 most influential people in the world. This legendary record producer has shaped the sound of countless hit artists. Just to name a few: Run-D.M.C., The Beastie Boys, Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, and Slayer.
