Unit 3 D2 D2 Make three justified recommendations for Kellogg’s to improve the validity of the marketing research used to contribute to the development of their marketing plans. In this assignment, I will be making three recommended justifications for Kellogg’s to improve the validity of the marketing research used to contribute to the development of their marketing plans. To start off with I will be reviewing Kellogg’s method of conducting primary research, when it comes to gathering data it is vital Kellogg’s ensured the information received is reliable and valid. With primary research it is more beneficial for Kellogg’s as it provides data which is more directly coherent to their current project which is the Crunchy Nut bites. One form of primary research which Kellogg’s used to gain qualitative data is the focus group method. These were used to show consumers the new food ideas in the form of a number of different food prototypes, including a mini crispy lattice product and a nutty triangle. The focus groups captured the attitudes and feelings of consumers towards the new foods.This primary research helped Kellogg's to find out how new product suggestions could be developed and still fit in with the Crunchy Nut brand. Although this method of research provided some good data it has some limitations to it for example the opinion of one may dominate the whole group which will lead to everyone else conforming to that opinion. Therefore the data from this method maybe misleading and not e helpful to the overall outcome of their product as it doesn’t give information about individual’s opinions. However a method of research which may be more applicable to Kellogg’s could be the use of face to face interviews were they can use a moderator who is very knowledgeable about the business to interview a random sample of cereal consumers.
