Ethical business professionals are, by and large, trustworthy, fair, impartial, respectful of others, and concerned about the impact of their actions on co-workers and their company. • Become familiar with the practice of ethical thoughtfulness in everyday transactions, within and beyond the workplace. • Identify critical ethical issues in business. • Identify, understand, and explain the basic ethical theories that structure contemporary business thought. Discuss in detail the ethical code in your workplace and the effect it has on the mission! (Lay, 2000) “At Applied Industrial Technologies and its subsidiaries (“Applied®”), we are committed to the highest level of ethical conduct. I personally believe that the culture of ethics and integrity in all we do begins with every leader and each associate. We have a proud, rich heritage that must never be compromised by inappropriate conduct. (Schrimsher, 2014) Above are two statements from CEO’s to their employees. The first one is a statement in a letter from Kenneth Lay, CEO of Enron to his employees about conducting business affairs in a moral and honest manor. The second is a statement to the employees from the CEO of the company that I will begin working for January 31, 2014, Applied Industrial Technologies.
