Two Cats: Five Personalities “There is, incidentally, no way of talking about cats that enables one to come off as a sane person,” as spoken by the feline loving author, Dan Greenberg. Unfortunately, this statement could not be more true. Upon telling people that I would be writing my final essay on my two cats, I received a number of strange looks, awkward silences, and short lived responses. But the fact of the matter is that my two cats, Fifi and June Bug, are by far the most ying and yang creatures to ever reside under the same roof. They are the true odd couple, although they come from the same species. And really the truth is all in their names. Fifi, as you can imagine, is quite the lady and extremely proper. While June Bug is the polar opposite and a country bumpkin to the core. Of course there are things that they both enjoy, but what they have in common are typical appreciations for any cat, such as snacks and toys and things of that nature. Beginning with June Bug, who is as rambunctious and free spirited as they come. She jumps off walls and scales the curtains with the most acrobatic of ease. She is now entering her teen years and it is almost like having a wild teenage girl in my house. She escapes at night and gets into fights with the other neighborhood cats only to show up in the morning crying at the door with some new battle scar. That still doesn’t stop her from returning to the streets the next night, fully healed, showing those other alley cats that she is not afraid and she will be respected. Then again, there is another side to her. A side that enjoys purring and keeping me company. She will not hesitate to jump on my lap while I am reading or studying. All the while “making biscuits” (when a cat kneads with their paws) on my stomach, chest, or even the book pages that I am trying to read. She also loves to bundle up close to someone at
