Evan Hillis 8th Grade ELA Argumentative Essay Cats Make a Better Pet than a Dog Now a day people love to keep pets. We all to have a pet. Most people decide on the common four-legged creatures like a cat or dog. Everyone has their own choice for it, but to choose among the two it is recommendable to go for cats rather than dogs because cats are more independent than dogs. Dogs and cats are very different animals and they have different attitudes, needs, and habits. Understanding these differences can help in the process of choosing between them. It is inevitable to agree that cats make better pets than dogs. They are typically more convenient than a dog. The first reason is that the cats don’t bark. Even the loudest meow from the cat is much better than the quietest bark of a dog, which is very much sufficient to keep one awake all night long. Another big reason is that cats can clean themselves and on the other hand the dogs need to have the owner to give them a bath, which is at times a pain to do and more time consuming. Moreover, if cats get lost they are amazingly good at finding their way home while the dogs will not return when lost. Dogs are more demanding than cats. They need their master to take them for walks on a daily basis, while cats do it on their own. They don’t need somebody take them for a walk as they are more independent. Last but not the least is that cats use a litterbox, while the dogs cannot be trained to do this and mess anywhere and everywhere which is the biggest drawback for choosing the dog as a pet. So it is quite clear that cats do make a better pet than dog because their needs are fewer than dogs. If quiet low maintenance is more important, a cat is a better choice.
