Most students try to avoid being lectured or get in trouble for something they can avoid. This is definitely extrinsic motivation that in turn create intrinsic motivation. Also, being able to see others students succeed around them can also motivate. If I don't care about my homework but I see that my friends do, I might be more likely to start caring about it
2). Instead of searching for a better educational environment, students look for better tests numbers. Lang Wood goes on by stating “Students can easily become discouraged and negative about education in general, which affects their learning ability” (par. 2). In addition to what Lang Wood believes, Stephens claims, students who are taking the test suffer from stress in result of worrying about passing it.
This is considered pathos because it is a great amount of pressure writing a paper and can be very tedious. She wants her audience to feel a sense of liberation, and she also wants her audience to understand that she too knows how it feels to be put under pressure. Another point Alonso uses in pathos is when she supposed “Examinations can indeed deal with trivia, they can be badly conceived and thus can cause needless anxiety in the students who struggle to make sense out of poorly-written or poorly-focused questions”(198). She is saying she wants to show other people that exams are the biggest test a student can take and the struggle students have to face during exam time and or writing a paper for final exams. A final point Alonso speaks is “Most damaging of all, perhaps, is the fact that professors are human beings and therefore they will sometimes grade examinations unfairly” (198).
In society many would think that teaching financial literacy in high school is not a good idea because the students already have many things to worry about. They think that teaching financial literacy would just add on to the load. They also assume that financial literacy skills are just common sense. Whereas some people also believe that teaching financial literacy is an excellent idea because it will help the students manage their future finances well. It will help them understand the basics of financial planning as it is not common sense.
Back then not, much punishment given to correct the problems that happen, some of the students could not tell their teachers because at times the teachers were part the problem as well. These ongoing issues seem it would never end for some students. Education can be a very scary experience for some students; the educational system has changed from back in the 60’s and 70’s. The punishment is more survive and more rules to follow. Even though the system has made a great deal of changes, it has not stopped the problems just slow them down.
The pressure to grip the next set of information can be overwhelming, especially to those who struggled to interpret the lessons prior to. As others get the hold of things, inadequate students are prone to feel a sense of defeat thus leaving them no choice but to give up. From there, the student’s attitude towards school can possibly become problematic; the student is more likely to be disconnected or foolish during class. Eventually, their priority centers around attendance rather than learning the curriculum. As these students get promoted from one grade to the other, their class performance just gets weaker by the year.
Many teachers do not like “catching plagiarists and bringing them to academic justice.” As she states, it is not hard to just cite the author that originally had the information you are using (Bojar). Plagiarism is becoming a big problem in the school system. Many students do not understand what needs to be cited and what does not. The school system should teach students the proper way to cite, and they should teach them that copy and pasting is not writing a paper. According Bojar to students at the community college have a hard time juggling classes along with his or her family and a job.
So with that being said, many students could feel uncomfortable hearing it at school. Also, if the class isn’t really a diverse classroom, that could make it even harder. Students won’t feel that it’s appropriate to speak up about being uncomfortable with the language or word choice, especially when the other students don’t seem to mind. The last thing a student wants is to be the odd guy out. The word is blatantly attached to racism, and that makes it a hard case to argue.
Standardized testing has been the reason behind many of the negative effects on students that educational theorist John Holt describes, like a student rarely being able to get through school “with much left of his curiosity, his independence, or his sense of his own dignity, competence, and worth.” For example, in regards to curiosity, testing stifles this by forcing students to only study for the content on tests and not encouraging them to explore and find subjects that they are interested in. Because the content of these types of tests rarely interests students, students may do well on them by memorizing facts, but they do not often truly learn the content. Both by failing to offer subjects that may appeal to students and by not presenting given subjects in a way conducive to learning, schools are harming individuality in favor of needless

Again, students should prepare in the long run for entrance exams by taking harder classes in high school. Unfortunately, in the United States many students from low-income families are in schools where they are not encouraged to take rigorous academic courses or the courses are just not offered to the students.
